Gunner Kiel: Signing Touted QB Would Put Notre Dame Back on Map
Highly touted quarterback prospect Gunner Kiel will be committing to a program very soon. He lists LSU, Vanderbilt and Notre Dame as options for his collegiate career.
Notre Dame and Head Coach Brian Kelly need to put their name back on the college football landscape by landing the No. 2 overall prospect coming out of high school.
The Fighting Irish have a great opportunity to land Kiel, who committed to Indiana in July but reopened his commitment in October.
Kiel is an Indiana guy that Notre Dame can’t afford to let slip away. There would be no question that a program like Notre Dame would feast on a player in state if this was 20 years ago. They have to prove that they are a powerhouse once again.
What better way than to out-recruit a program like LSU?
Notre Dame would be back on the national map if Kiel decided to go to Notre Dame. He could possibly be the trend setter for other recruits. His commitment would officially say, “It’s perfectly fine to play for a program like Notre Dame again,” and that’s exactly what the university needs.
Kiel can possibly be a program-changing type of player. He has great size at 6’4” 215 lbs and has a solid arm that could excel at the collegiate level.
He completed 139 of 209 passes for 2,645 yards and 36 touchdowns for Columbus East this past season.
Notre Dame needs Kiel to come to the program for not only his production, but to return the mystique of the football program. It would put them back on the national landscape if they were to out-recruit the SEC powerhouse LSU Tigers.
