NBA Trade Rumors: Stephen Jackson Delaying Inevitable by Slowing Extension Talks

Ryan RudnanskyDec 24, 2011

Milwaukee Bucks forward Stephen Jackson was fairly adamant this offseason that it was "Extension or Bust."

Now, after already making things uncomfortable for Bucks management, Jackson is dialing it down before the season starts.

"

I'm going to go ahead and let it die down. Right now, I know it's not the time to talk about contracts or anything like that. It's about focusing on getting to the playoffs.

"

Well, that's all fine and dandy, but the damage has already been done.

There's a reason why Jackson is a journeyman. Despite having the skills to be coveted by one team for a long time, he continues to look out for himself first and foremost and is a distraction off the court.

Jackson has already burned bridges with the Indiana Pacers, Golden State Warriors and Charlotte Bobcats.

He was traded by the Pacers to the Warriors after firing several gunshots outside an Indianapolis strip club. He was traded by the Warriors to the Bobcats after complaining about his contract one year into his deal. And he was traded by the Bobcats to the Bucks this offseason because he was demanding an extension.

When Jackson arrived in Milwaukee, he said an extension was "mandatory," via The Journal Times. This was despite the fact that he was 33 years old, dealing with back problems and had two more years left on his contract.

My suggestion to the Bucks?

Trade Jackson as soon as possible.

You only have to look at his history to know this is going to end badly in the long run.
