College Football Recruiting 2012: 3 Top 25 Classes Least Likely to Pan out

Edwin WeathersbyDec 26, 2011

Players can surprise you and be more productive than you hope for, but many programs sign classes that bust. That is a fact. Every recruiting class has a couple players that end up as busts, but an entire class? That doesn't happen.

However, there are some classes that just never really pan out and live up their billing. For this read, I'm going to give you a few classes that fit that bill.

Hope you're having a wonderful holidays.

Arizona State

1 of 3

T.J. Millweard and Evan Goodman are the headliners so far, and while they are talented, the rest of the class is chock-full of two-star and three-star players.

For the Sun Devils, I just don't see any impact recruits right now. Sure, they have players committed that will produce, but I'm not sure how much.

The new head coach is going to have to come in hot and fast to lure more talent before national signing day.

Oregon State

2 of 3

The Beavers aren't in the top 25, but I figured I'd add them in here for good measure. The Beavers' class as a whole lacks pizazz. I know you can't and shouldn't judge a class right now, but unless you have a psychic I can speak to, this is the only measure we have.

I have seen three-star WR commit Malik Gilmore up close and personal, and I do like him. However, I question the 6'3", 200-pounder's deep speed and separation quickness. Those are two no-nos for a WR.

Outside of OL/DL Isaac Seumalo and perhaps Gilmore, there's not much to get fired up about in this class.

Miami

3 of 3

Five-star RB Duke Johnson is a nightmare for defenses and could be an instant impact player for Miami in 2012.

But Keith Brown is now committed to Illinois and Jelani Hamilton could or could not be looking around. Angelo Jean-Louis has made some underrated lists.

Al Golden has three QB prospects committed in Preston Dewey, Gray Crow and David Thompson. That's three field generals, yet in many various circles, none of them are highly rated or ranked. Golden has gotten numbers, but I don't like the value in this class.
