Arsenal Transfer Rumours: Will Gunners Sign Highly Sought-After Lucas Biglia?

Arsenal has their eyes on impressive Argentine midfielder Lucas Biglia, according to Soccer News.

The Gunners aren't the only ones who are looking to sign Biglia, though, as Biglia's representative revealed that there are other clubs in contention to sign the 25-year-old as well. 

“Fiorentina, Arsenal and Manchester United? The interest of those clubs is real,” his representative Enzo Montepaone said. 

Biglia currently plays for Anderlecht in Belgium's Pro League, where he has played since 2006. Before playing in Belgium, he played a year and a half in his native Argentina for Independiente. 

“If everything goes to wish, Lucas will be back in Brussels on 2nd of January, his representative added. "He will start training then and will be ready for the Europa League game against AZ."

As a defensive midfielder, Biglia does not score often but he is known to be a very skilled player. His current market value is somewhere around £7.5 million. 

“It’s right that those clubs are interested," his representative stated. "From the moment he came to Anderlecht it was the plan to grow as a player. Now is the moment for him to go to a big club."

Arsenal might consider temporarily moving Biglia to the backline to fill in for their slew of injured defenders. 

According to his representative, Biglia has high expectations for his career going forward. 

“He can earn double his salary at another club," Biglia's representative said. "He will not leave Anderlecht for another European sub-top club. That’s why we were not interested in the offer of Atletico Madrid.”

Biglia has six caps for the Argentine national team, and was part of team including Lionel Messi that won the 2005 FIFA World Youth Championship. 

He was awarded Belgium's Young Professional Footballer of the Year award for his outstanding play in the 2006-07 season. 

With Manchester United in the running for Biglia as well, Arsenal will probably look to make the talented Argentine a serious offer.
