NFL Week 16 Predictions: Projecting the Week's Most Dominant Receivers
With the epic seasons we've seen from a handful of quarterbacks this season, remember this—they haven't been doing it alone.
A ton of receivers are having epic seasons, too.
There are already 13 pass-catchers with over 1,000 yards receiving and three or four more guys should eclipse that mark in Week 16.
Let's look at which receivers will be the most dominant over the holiday weekend.
Calvin Johnson
1 of 3Yes, I took the easy way out with this one.
Johnson is coming off his best performance of the year on the road in Oakland and he's at home this week in a game against the Chargers that could easily become a shootout.
With a playoff berth on the line, Detroit should be looking to hit the home-run with Johnson often, especially to keep pace with Philip Rivers' offense.
Another monster game for the NFL's most dynamic and physically intimidating receiver.
Jordy Nelson
2 of 3Don't expect the Packers to lay another egg at home against the division nemesis Bears on Christmas Day.
Because they'll be without Greg Jennings for a second-straight game, Jordy Nelson emerges as the go-to guy in the receiving corps.
He only had two catches last week, but with Mike McCarthy likely to add more quick passes due to the offensive line injuries, Nelson will be targeted frequently on underneath routes and slants and should be able to pick up major yards after the catch.
Look for No. 87 in the red zone, too.
A.J. Green
3 of 3I'm going out of the box a little here, but Green has been one of the most reliable receivers in the NFL this season.
He's caught four or more passes in 10 of the 13 games he's played and has 17 grabs over the last three weeks.
Even when Andy Dalton doesn't put up major numbers, he seemingly always finds his fellow rookie down the field on a few occasions.
Although the Cardinals defense is improved, their secondary is still susceptible (allowing 240 yards passing a game), so look for the Bengals quarterback to look to Green all game, especially in crunch time.
