NFL Week 16 Picks: Broncos vs. Bills and Games Sure to Be Nail Biters

Eric BowmanDec 23, 2011

Every NFL fan loves to watch an exciting finish to a game, even if it involves two teams that aren't very good. Week 16 features some good matchups, and it's easy to see which teams will have close battles for all four quarters.

The only time a blowout win is fun is when it's your team that's dominating. It's even better when it's against a team you despise.

While we all root for high-scoring affairs, deep down everyone can't get enough of games that come down to the wire.

With that said, here are three Week 16 games that will be nail biters.

Denver vs. Buffalo

The Denver Tebows—excuse me, Broncos—hit the road to take on a Buffalo Bills team that continues to struggle. After a hot start, the Bills are now 5-9 and have lost seven games in a row.

However, it's not as if they're being demolished every week. The Bills have kept it close in some games, which is exactly what will happen this Saturday.

Playing at home will help the Bills a lot, as will the fact that Tim Tebow doesn't crush his opponents. Expect more sloppy play from the Broncos offense in the early going, allowing the Bills to take the lead.

But in the fourth, Tebow time will emerge once again, and the Broncos will squeeze out another victory, courtesy of Matt Prater's foot.

Prediction: Broncos 20 Bills 17

Philadelphia vs Dallas

Earlier this year, the Cowboys were completely embarrassed at the hands of the Eagles, and that was when new-look Philadelphia was just learning how to gel together as a whole.

The Eagles defense will rise up to the occasion again and prevent Tony Romo and company from a monster performance.

Philadelphia is on a roll now, and since the Eagles have an outside chance of winning the division, they'll be highly motivated to beat their arch rival.

Dallas is known to choke games away, and that happens once again on Saturday, which will make the NFC East race very exciting.

Prediction: Eagles 30 Cowboys 27

San Diego vs. Detroit

The Chargers are in desperate need of a win, as well as help from other teams, if they want to get into the playoffs.

The Lions are in good position to earn a wild-card berth, but a loss on Saturday would give other teams a chance to catch up. Since Detroit closes out the year against Green Bay, it has to win this game to better its chances for a wild-card spot.

Expect some big plays in this game because both teams have talented skill players ready to shine. Matthew Stafford and Calvin Johnson will make sure the Lions say competitive, but in the end, the Chargers will triumph.

Philip Rivers and company always pick it up late in the season, and since they have somewhat of a shot at postseason play, they'll step their game up to edge out the Lions in a close one.

Prediction: Chargers 34 Lions 33
