Monta Ellis Video: Watch Animated Spoof About Ellis' Sexual Harassment Case
The Golden State Warriors and star guard Monta Ellis are currently under fire in a sexual harassment case. According to Austin Knoblauch of the Los Angeles Times, Ellis is alleged to have sent lewd text messages to former Warriors employee Erika Smith.
Ellis, who is married, allegedly sent Smith multiple suggestive texts per day and even sent her a picture of his genitals. Ellis' wife notified the organization when she found out about the correspondence and Smith was eventually fired.
What she didn't know, however, is that Smith wanted no part of it.
Smith is now suing Ellis for sexual harassment and the Warriors for wrongful termination. While sexual harassment is no laughing matter, it is hard not to find some humor in this Taiwanese animated spoof of Ellis' endeavors with Smith.
Perhaps the best part of the video came when Warriors general manager Larry Riley sent Smith through a trap door. It is alleged that Riley told Ellis that the organization would "cover up" the situation in order to protect the reputations of Ellis and the franchise as a whole.
Ultimately, you really have to wonder what Ellis was thinking. He is seemingly happily married and has a dream job that most would kill for. Despite that, he felt the need to prey on a team employee.
I'm not sure what Ellis' angle was, but once he was rejected the first time you would think he would have gotten the message to stop.
Ellis' stupidity stands to cost himself and the Warriors' organization quite a bit of money, though. I certainly have sympathy toward Smith for what she had to endure, but Ellis deserves this type of ridicule because of the mind-numbing decisions he made in this case.
