NFL Week 16 Picks: Last-Second Picks for Every Game This Week

Michael DixonDec 22, 2011

With the Texans and Colts just hours away from getting Week 16 underway, it's time to take a look at what to expect from every game.

It's possible that 11 of the NFL's 12 playoff spots will be earned by the end of the week. Let's see if that's going to happen.

Houston Texans at Indianapolis Colts

The Colts did their part in making Thursday Night Football somewhat interesting with a win last week. But even though they're coming off of their lone win, they don't stand much of a chance here. The Arian Foster-led running game will win this one for the Texans.

Prediction: Texans 24, Colts 7

Oakland Raiders at Kansas City Chiefs

The Raiders are just not playing like a playoff team right now. They don't seem to have a ton of confidence, and that's killing them. The Chiefs are playing for Romeo Crennel, and that's going to get them the win in this one.

Prediction: Chiefs 24, Raiders 14

Jacksonville Jaguars at Tennessee Titans

Despite losing to the Colts last week, the Titans are still a factor in the AFC playoff race. Playing at home against a woeful Jaguars' team, look for them to get back on track with a relatively easy win.

Prediction: Titans 20, Jaguars 7

Miami Dolphins at New England Patriots

Tom Brady goes against the very team that he scorched in Week 1. This game will have a similar result. Miami will score some points, but the Patriots will win convincingly.

Prediction: Patriots 37, Dolphins 21

Arizona Cardinals at Cincinnati Bengals

This one will come down to the defenses, and that's an advantage to the Bengals, especially at home. The Cardinals are riding a hot streak, but a long trip into cold weather will be too much to overcome.

Prediction: Bengals 17, Cardinals 10

Denver Broncos at Buffalo Bills

The Bills don't have the defense to stop Tim Tebow when he gets going. At their best, the Buffalo defense forces turnovers, but Tebow doesn't throw that often. The Denver defense will get a nice break in going against someone not named Tom Brady.

Prediction: Broncos 23, Bills 14

St. Louis Rams at Pittsburgh Steelers

Ben Roethlisberger is hobbled and may not even play. But if the Steelers can't beat the Rams in Pittsburgh, Roetlhisberger is the least of their problems. They won't have any trouble here.

Prediction: Steelers 30, Rams 6

New York Giants at New York Jets

This will come down to a big play. While the Giants have the better offense, they are going against a far superior defense. The Jets will do enough to pull this one out, getting back on the playoff track.

Prediction: Jets 20, Giants 14

Minnesota Vikings at Washington Redskins

These teams are playing for very little. But look for the Redskins defense to take charge in this one.

Prediction: Redskins 16, Vikings 10

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Carolina Panthers

Neither of these teams is very good, but they are headed in radically different directions. Cam Newton already torched the Buccaneers in Tampa. This one will give us more of the same.

Prediction: Panthers 34, Buccaneers 14

Cleveland Browns at Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens' lack of consistency will burn them in the playoffs, but the Browns are not a playoff opponent. They have no offense, and the Ravens aren't the team to break out against.

Prediction: Ravens 27, Browns 6

San Diego Chargers at Detroit Lions

The Lions' front and Calvin Johnson will be too much to overcome. San Diego is in the middle of their patented late-season run, but their chances are about to end. Detroit will take this one.

Prediction: Lions 31, Chargers 23

Philadelphia Eagles at Dallas Cowboys

The division that no team wants to win will be decided on Sunday. The Eagles' late run will be rendered irrelevant, as the Cowboys will pull this one out. The Eagles have been too inconsistent to believe that they will keep a winning streak going. Dallas takes this one at home.

Prediction: Cowboys 24, Eagles 20

San Francisco 49ers at Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks rely too much on Marshawn Lynch. The 49ers defense still has yet to allow a rushing touchdown this season. Tarvaris Jackson is not going to win any games on his own.

Prediction: 49ers 24, Seahawks 13

Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers

The Bears are depleted. The Packers did show some vulnerability in Sunday's loss, but the Bears aren't going to step up in this one. Green Bay already beat a much better Bears' team in Chicago. Lambeau will provide similar results.

Prediction: Packers 31, Bears 10

Atlanta Falcons at New Orleans Saints

The Saints are riding a hot streak. While the Falcons are good, they aren't at the level of the Saints, not yet. In New Orleans, the Saints will roll.

Prediction: Saints 34, Falcons 24
