Gunner Kiel Decision: The No. 1 Selling Point for Notre Dame, LSU and Vanderbilt
Merry Christmas to all college football fans. Well, really to just Notre Dame, LSU and Vanderbilt fans because one of those lucky teams will find out real soon if they have landed a 5-star quarterback.
Gunner Kiel is considered by many to be the top quarterback prospect in the country and will instantly make any offense better. He is a pro-style quarterback and has everything a team looks for: mobility, an accurate arm and he can make every throw on the football field.
One of those three schools will get an early Christmas present as he's expected to make a decision by the time the weekend arrives.
Here are the number one selling points for each school.
Notre Dame
1 of 3Does Notre Dame really need a selling pitch for a recruit to want to play for the Irish?
One of the most prestigious programs in the country, Notre Dame has a television contract with NBC and the academics are top of the line as well. Not to mention, just being a quarterback for Notre Dame pretty much guarantees you a spot in the NFL draft.
Just the history alone would be enough to draw in any recruit and makes you at least think twice about wanting to play for them. Having no legitimate quarterback on the roster also helps things for Kiel as he'll be able to compete for playing time right away.
LSU
2 of 3Probably the No.1 selling point for LSU is the fact they play in the toughest conference in college football and he'll be playing against the top competition every week. Not too many other teams can say the same thing.
Kiel will also be able to work slowly into the offense as he wouldn't have to do so much for this team to win. Les Miles loves to rely on running the football and defense and with the recruiting class coming in, it doesn't appear that's going to change.
He'd also be playing in one of the best college football atmospheres at Tiger Stadium.
Jordan Jefferson and Jarrett Lee are both on their way out so like Notre Dame, Kiel would have an opportunity to start right away. The difference is he'd have a chance to win a National Championship next year as well with the Tigers.
Vanderbilt
3 of 3Vanderbilt is no longer the little Commodores you can ignore. Although they went 6-6 this year, they made huge strides under head coach James Franklin and that defense is legit. Vandy nearly beat Georgia, Arkansas and Florida this season.
Kiel would be receiving a solid education that ranks near the top in nearly every program they offer. This is a great university academically and is on the rise as far as their football program goes.
The 5-star quarterback would also get to play against elite competition as he'd be playing in the SEC. Don't sleep on the Commodores, this is a team that will make some noise the next few seasons.
