New York Mets: Open Letter to Santa Claus

Dear Santa,

As you can see from my picture, I have hung my Mets ornament on our Christmas tree.  I am hoping that you might be kind enough to bring us these gifts this year.

1) An investor to purchase the minority share of the team so that we can put this issue behind us for a while.

2) Meaningful games in August, and maybe even into September. It was really hard to pay attention this year during the dog days of the summer when the team was so far behind in the standings.

3) A healthy Ike Davis. He has the potential to be a very productive first baseman, but he needs to get mended and stay healthy all year.

4) A sports psychologist that can teach the players the fundamentals of the game and help them remember them when the season starts. Boneheaded mistakes are really hard to take when you are so far down in the standings.

5) A medical staff that can accurately diagnose injuries so that they can be treated quickly and appropriately.

6) Johan Santana able to return to his full capacity by Memorial Day at the latest.

7) A dance instructor for Lucas Duda so he can improve his footwork and thus his defensive capabilities. We could use his bat in the lineup on an almost-every-day basis.

8) Improved home run production from David Wright and Jason Bay after the lowering of the left field fence.

9) Such great play from Ruben Tejada that we soon forget about Jose what's-his-name.

10) Forty-five wins from the trio of R. A. Dickey, Dillon Gee and Jon Niese.

Santa, I hope you don't think I am being greedy for asking for all of these gifts.  But we have been suffering for a number of years, and I don't think any of them are unreasonable to obtain.
