Why James Harrison Is Either Crazy or Stupid to Blame Browns for Colt McCoy Hit

Ryan PhillipsDec 22, 2011

Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison will be back from his suspension this weekend and if you were expecting him to be apologetic for the hit on Cleveland Browns quarterback Colt McCoy, you'll be disappointed.

Harrison is decidedly unapologetic and in fact he has now leveled his sights on the Browns for allowing McCoy to return to the game two plays later.

"

"If he was hurt so bad, I don't know why they let him back in, what, two plays later?" Harrison said. "Something should be done to them, I think. I got a game. What should they get?"

While Harrison does have a point that Cleveland should not have allowed McCoy to return to the game, by even bringing it up he is just deflecting criticism to another source. Pittsburgh's linebacker was the first player suspended for a helmet-to-helmet hit since the NFL has enhanced its emphasis on player safety.

It was the fifth illegal hit against a quarterback that Harrison had been punished for in the past three seasons, though it had been over a year since he was last fined.

I understand that Harrison is ticked off over the fact that he got suspended for what he thought was a clean play, but he knows the Browns won't be punished.

If Harrison was smart he would just stop talking about this and let it go. He got suspended, there is nothing he can do about it and there is no reason for him to keep bringing it up. He needs to move on. Popping off about the Browns is just going to make things worse and keep reminding people of the incident.
