Kobe Bryant: Breaking Down New Zoom Kobe VII Supreme Shoes
The new Zoom Kobe VII Supreme shoes aren't the ugliest kicks No. 24 has ever cranked out, but they certainly aren't Bryant's best work.
These black and yellow sneakers aren't beginners' shoes by any means. Let's take a closer look to see how they grade out.
"WOW" Factor: 9 out of 10
The "WOW" that is going to come forth from onlookers won't always be a good one. In fact, more often than not people will be saying, "Wow, those are crazy looking."
These shoes generate attention and the futuristic look that is customary in Kobe's kicks is certainly felt here. Shock value is through the roof, but it doesn't mask all of the shortcomings.
Design: 3 out of 10
The design gets a three out of 10 simply because the bottom is actually kind of cool. The top half is so wild and out of the ordinary, it's impossible to give it anything more than a three.
Take a look at that tongue. Who thought that setup was a good idea? They tried to have two shoes in one, coming up with the ankle wrap garbage and the fast break shoe, but failed to deliver on either.
How about the back of the shoe with the signature that looks like a banner to a $4 an hour motel? Not a winning combo.
Overall Swag Grade: 2 out of 10
Maybe 70 people in the world have the ability to pull off these shoes. If you have to ask "am I one of them?" you aren't.
Odds are you're going to look ridiculous in these shoes and those who tell you different are probably lying to you so that you don't feel miserable about your purchase. Kobe is better than this. He's sure to bounce back from what has been an embarrassing December.
