Texans vs Colts: Why Houston Should Annihilate Indy on Thursday Night Football

Chris TrapassoDec 22, 2011

Will the Houston Texans finally get their first win in franchise history in Indianapolis tonight against the Indianapolis Colts?

It is definitely their best opportunity.

The Texans are 10-4 and already the champions of the AFC South. Although we saw some glimmers of hope last week in the Colts' win over the Tennessee Titans, they are still the worst team in the NFL

I'm glad the Colts gave their fans something to cheer about, and despite it being relatively loud inside the dome tonight, the Texans should annihilate Indianapolis.

Plain and simple.

Opposing quarterbacks are averaging a 104.5 QB rating against the Colts this season. T.J Yates certainly isn't a top signal-caller even in the AFC, but he has gained valuable experience over the last month and we saw how efficient he can be against the Bengals two weeks ago.

He didn't have his greatest performance against the Panthers last week, but expect him to make adjustments against one of the worst secondaries in football.

Still, I don't expect Houston's coaching staff to call a ton of passing plays in this one.

The Colts run defense is one of the most susceptible units in the NFL. They surrender nearly 139 yards on the ground per game which means Arian Foster should have a big game and don't forget Ben Tate, a guy who ran for 116 years in the season opener against Indy.

The Indianapolis offense hasn't seen much improvement with Dan Orlovsky behind center, outside of an "impressive" performance in garbage time against the Patriots a few weeks back.

He only had 11 completions for 82 yards last week in the win, and now he faces arguably the most complete defense in the league, one that has registered 38 sacks on the season.

Not exactly the best matchup for an inept Colts offense.

You never know in today's NFL, but the Texans should run away with this one early en route to their 11th win on the year.
