TNA Impact Wrestling Preview: Jeff Hardy, Sting/Roode, the Wild Card and More
TNA wrestling presents a new episode of Impact Wrestling tonight and if the past few weeks are any indication, this week’s episode will be another good one.
The company has confirmed three matches with a possible fourth, as well as a few in-ring segments.
So let’s take a look at what TNA has in store for the viewing audience tonight.
Sting Reacts to Bobby Roode’s Actions Last Week
When it came to the new man in charge, Sting, everyone has been has listened to him and accepted his decisions.
Well, not everyone.
TNA world champion Bobby Roode has been defying Sting every step of the way. He has attacked TNA president Dixie Carter, attacked people from beyond and has just been a general menace for the Icon.
Every punishment Sting came up for Roode, the champion has weaseled his way out of each and every one of them.
Last week he may have gone too far.
After a match with Bully Ray, Roode attacked Jeff Hardy. Sting came out for the save, but Roode hit him from behind with the title belt.
As Sting was down, the heels put Hardy through a table.
Roode has now put his hands on both of the authority figures in TNA. What will Sting’s latest punishment for the champion be? Will it result in Sting’s return to the ring?
Zema Ion vs. Anthony Nese: Match 2 in a Best-of-3 Series
For the past month or two, the X-Division has been concentrating on champion Austin Aries, his on-again, off-again ally Kid Kash and their main rival Jesse Sorenson.
The three have had many battles, but Aries has always come out on top.
TNA has finally put the spotlight on two other X-Division stars as Zema Ion and Anthony Nese are in a best-of-three series to earn a shot at the X-Division Championship.
At Genesis, the winner will join a Fatal Four-Way Match that will also feature champion Aires, Kash and Sorenson.
Match 1 took place last week and Ion picked up the victory in good match.
Can Nese tie it up tonight or will Ion earn his spot in the title match?
Karen Jarrett is Gone, the Knockouts React to the Good News
For a couple of months now, the vice president of the Knockouts division, Karen Jarrett, has been a complete nightmare for the women of TNA Wrestling.
She has tried to get them to dress more appropriately, but when that failed, she forced them to wrestle in their lingerie and wash a car in bikinis.
She has been verbally abusive to all the members of the division, especially her forced assistant Traci Brooks.
The only decision she made that could be seen as “good” in the eyes of the fans would be the rehiring of Gail Kim.
Even then, Gail aligned herself with Karen and helped her raise hell in the division.
At Final Resolution, her husband, Jeff Jarrett, went up against Jeff Hardy in a steel cage match. As per the stipulation, one of the Jarrett’s would be fired since the King of the Mountain lost the match.
After both Jarrett’s threw each other under the bus, Sting decided to fire both of them.
Karen’s reign of terror is now over, but her cohorts Gail and Madison Rayne are still there and still hold all the Knockouts gold.
How will the Knockouts react to Karen’s firing? What will be the fate of Gail and Madison now that their leader is gone?
The Wild Card Tag-Team Tournament Continues
Last week, the Wild Card Tag-Team Tournament began. The new champions, Crimson and Matt Morgan, have no challengers so TNA set up eight teams comprised of random pairings.
The winners of the tournament will get a title shot at Genesis.
Last week, Abyss and Scott Steiner defeated Hernandez and Rob Terry to advance while Samoa Joe and Magnus defeated Robbie E and Douglas Williams to do the same.
Tonight we’ll get to see the final two first-round matches as we see A.J. Styles and Kazarian take on Rob Van Dam and Christopher Daniels, as well as Eric Young and ODB vs. Shannon Moore and Anarquia.
Who will advance to the semifinals?
Bobby Roode Throws Another Road Block at Jeff Hardy
A lot of people were not happy when Jeff Hardy was named as the No. 1 contender for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. One of those people was the champion Bobby Roode.
Last week, the champion threw Hardy a road block in Bully Ray. The Charismatic Enigma defeated the bully and blew right through Roode’s road block.
Roode repaired it quite quickly, though, when he and Bully Ray put Hardy through a table.
Tonight Bobby Roode will be throwing another obstacle in his way.
Who will Jeff Hardy have to face in his quest to become world champion once again?
Also, tonight TNA wrestling promises to announce more matches for January’s pay-per-view, Genesis.
Tune in tonight find out what happens!
