The 5 Most Likely Superstars Behind the "It Begins" Promos

Ross BentleyDec 21, 2011

The "It Begins" promos have done an excellent job of generating buzz amongst WWE fans since they debuted several weeks ago.

As January 2nd itches nearer, myself along with thousands of other WWE fans are assuredly wondering just who is behind the cryptic promos that interrupt RAW and SmackDown every week.

Speculation about who the promos are about has narrowed down to just a few men, so here is my countdown of the five most likely Superstars behind the promos.

5. Brodus Clay

1 of 5

Does anyone want the man behind the "It Begins" promos to be Brodus Clay? Of course not. But stranger things have happened.

After a series of intense vignettes hyping Clay's return to the ring, that hyped return...well didn't happen.

It has to be assumed Clay will return sometime in January at this point, likely in time for the Royal Rumble, so it is possible that there is a reason after all that Vince McMahon has left Clay off the screen.

The promos, of course, were not originally planned for Clay, but there have been rumors before of the WWE beginning to hype the return of a certain superstar before all those pesky contract details have been worked out.

Having Clay (or Ryback for that matter) show up on January 2nd, would be an epic let down, but if the WWE get's into a bind and whoever the promo's were meant for cannot show up...you never know.

4. Sting

OK, the promos are PROBABLY not for Sting, but like I said before, you just never know.

Few things would be as unpredictable and as shocking as seeing Sting, who still is under contract at TNA show up in a WWE ring for the first time on January 2nd.

There are those out there who seriously believe Sting is behind the promos. Hence the "It Begins" is "I Be Sting" nonsense that I have seen out there on the message boards.

But the WWE has shocked fans before, and if they somehow pulled off Sting it could possibly be one of their most shocking moves yet.

3. Shane/Stephanie McMahon

3 of 5

Since the beginning, there was only three people I ever believed had any chance of being behind the promos. One of them was Shane McMahon.

I won't get into the specifics of why it could be Shane O'Mac, but he could be coming back to "take back what is his" in the WWE, possibly in a GM role.

The reason I include Stephanie in the title is that the girl is heavily featured in the videos and for no other superstar would it make sense to have a female come back with them other than Shane and Stephanie.

Also, Stephanie is just as big, if not bigger, of a WWE personality than Shane, so while having just one of them may be unspectacular, having both would be something WWE fans could really get excited about.

Stephanie hasn't gone that long without being on TV, in fact she was minorly involved in the "conspiracy" angle in the fall, but she has been absent ever since.

It is true that Shane has other business other than the WWE he is involved in, but it is entirely possible he will come back with his sister for one last run with the company in an on-screen role on January 2nd.

2. The Undertaker

4 of 5

We all know that The Undertaker will be coming back for one last match, most likely at this year's WrestleMania, so what better way to bring him back than have him be the one behind the "It Begins" promos.

The videos have had a rather creepy, cryptic feel to them which certainly fits The Undertaker's persona much more then anyone else on this list, and having him return would more than satisfy WWE fans everywhere.

'Taker is going to show up again at some point, and there is a large number of people who believe it will be in two weeks on RAW.

While the majority of evidence points at it being the superstar at No. 1 on this list, if it is not, it is almost assuredly going to be The Undertaker.

1. Chris Jericho

5 of 5

At first, many people were skeptical about Chris Jericho being the man behind the "It Begins" videos, but as they have continued it is now the overwhelming majority (myself included) that believe that Jericho himself will come back to the WWE in less then two weeks.

People have analyzed these videos for hours trying to find the answers and you can look all around the Internet for clues that I won't touch on in this article, but the majority of those clues point to the fact that it is Jericho.

However, there is still a realistic possibility it is not him, Jericho has stated that he will not return to the WWE several times, and although this all could be a ploy by Jericho, it is plausible that he is content with his life as a media personality and family man, and does not feel like he has the desire to come back into the ring.

But then again there's that whole, Punk vs. Jericho for the WWE Championship match that is being rumored for WrestleMania, so that points heavily to the fact that Jericho will be returning, and returning as a heel set out to beat CM Punk and prove he really is the best in the world at what he does.
