Tebow has been at the epicenter of media attention this year. His merits as a QB have been widely debated. He is beginning to win over critics of his on-field play, but he will never rid himself detractors, and that is all due to the way he practices his faith.

Tebow's public display of faith is far from new. Countless athletes have done things similar to Tebow. It's just that few have ever had the kind of spotlight as Tebow.

Tebow rose to stardom as a Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback of a national champion in college. The way Tebow led and played with immense passion was impossible to miss. 

He immediately became a part of pop culture. At that point, everything he did was going to be thrown under the microscope. And as that fame and attention grew, the spotlight on his devotion to his faith did as well. 

Despite barely playing for a season and a half in the NFL Tebow has still been a popular topic among football fans. Once he took over starting duties in his second year and embarked on an improbable winning streak that has the Broncos in a position to make the playoffs, that attention and stardom exploded.

And it certainly has done nothing to quell his polarizing effects.

While publicly expressing faith is certainly not unique, it is still in the vast minority. Anytime anyone in the center of the spotlight is wildly different from the norm, controversy is going to follow.

Then there is just a large part of the population that talks about how tired they are of hearing people talking about Tim Tebow.

Well, we all need to get used to it because none of this is going away anytime soon. Tebow is going to be in the NFL and the media's spotlight for a longtime. The controversy, passion and opinions surrounding him will not dissipate.
