NFL Playoff Predictions: 3 Players Guaranteed To Come Through in the Clutch
When it comes to the NFL postseason, throw out all the regular season statistics—it's all about being clutch.
Which quarterbacks can deliver for their teams in the final minutes with the game—and their season—on the line?
What about receivers?
Think about it—we've seen some incredibly clutch performances from pass-catchers in recent playoff memory.
These are the guys I can count on in this postseason.
Aaron Rodgers
1 of 3The Packers are coming off a stunning defeat at the hands of the Kansas City Chiefs, but let's face it—Aaron Rodgers can certainly still be trusted.
He has 40 touchdown passes on the season to only six interceptions, and his team will most likely wrap up home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.
Remember what he did in last year's postseason?
He was good enough against the Eagles in Philadelphia, torched the Falcons secondary inside the Georgia Dome and made the big plays in the second half against the Bears in the Windy City.
Oh, and he won the Super Bowl MVP.
Forget last week's hiccup.
Rodgers is a guy I'm trusting in January.
And February.
Getting Greg Jennings back would help.
Drew Brees
2 of 3Brees threw a whopping 60 times for 404 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions in the Saints' famously thrilling upset defeat to the Seahawks in Seattle last season.
Remember, the game that this happened.
So even when his team was bounced from the playoffs, Brees wasn't a disappointment; based on what he's done over the last five games, something tells me he'll be ready to go against in this year's postseason.
There's a good chance he won't have to go on the road in the first round and we've seen how incredibly efficiently he operates his offense at the Superdome.
Brees has tossed 20 touchdowns to only three interceptions at home this season.
He took the entire city of New Orleans on a magical Super Bowl run in 2009 and was named the MVP in the Saints' epic victory over the Colts.
He is on a tear and is in for a huge postseason.
Calvin Johnson
3 of 3Not every player in this year's postseason will have a ton of playoff experience.
Calvin Johnson has all the size, speed and overall talent to become a legendary playoff icon. With the Lions having a good shot at playing a few games inside in January, don't be shocked when Matthew Stafford is launching it down field to Megatron.
Outside of the 49ers, the NFC doesn't have many stingy secondaries, so if it comes down to a shootout, I like Johnson's chances against just about anyone.
