NFL Week 16 Predictions: Philadelphia Eagles and Dangerous Teams Be Wary of

Alex KayDec 21, 2011

There are a number of teams in the NFL that have become unstoppable as the season winds to an end.

For many of these late bloomers, it is too late to make any serious playoff push.

However, a few squads have extra motivation to crush the life out of their opponent, as they are still hanging onto their postseason aspirations by a thread.

Let’s take a look at some of the most dangerous teams that have been playing great and need a win in Week 16.

Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles’ defense dismantled the New York Jets last weekend for their second-straight double-digit win. They are hoping to grind out two more like that and are crossing their fingers.

Why?

Despite their poor start, the Eagles can still actually win the wide-open NFC East, obviously needing some help with Giants and Cowboys losses.

It’s more of a testament to how bad the division is, but Philadelphia is playing the best football of anyone right now out of the four teams and arguably deserves the postseason the most.

San Diego Chargers

It seems like every single year that Philip Rivers and the Chargers play their best football in the final few weeks.

Considering they have a chance at either the AFC West title or wild card this year if they can win out, they had better be thankful for this ability to turn it on late.

Should the Chargers win out and either the Jets or Broncos fall, San Diego would be back in the playoffs again.

The Bolts shouldn’t have a problem with the former; it’s hoping that Tim Tebow’s Broncos or Rex Ryan’s Jets lose that seems more improbable.

Arizona Cardinals

The 7-7 Birds have a very big matchup with the 7-7 Seattle Seahawks in Week 17. Should they both be undefeated this week, it could possibly have playoff implications.

Atlanta and Detroit need to lose some games to help out the NFC West contenders, so it’s not looking likely.

However, the Cardinals are going to continue praying and will not stop fighting. They have a winnable game against Cincinnati this week and will be keeping tabs on the Lions and Falcons.
