WWE News: Two Current Top Feuds Will Reportedly Run Through Royal Rumble

When watching this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw, I fully expected to see the beginning phases of some new WWE feuds. 

My guess was that we would see Alberto Del Rio move down the card, The Miz and CM Punk start a singles feud for the WWE championship and Zack Ryder defend his newly won United States championship so that he and Dolph Ziggler could go their separate ways once and for all. 

None of that happened, though, and I think it has a lot to do with the fact that there are reportedly plans for two top-tier WWE feuds to continue through the Royal Rumble pay-per-view.

Backstage news from RAW is that the Randy Orton vs. Wade Barrett and Zack Ryder vs. Dolph Ziggler feuds may run past the Royal Rumble according to F4Wonline.com.

That’s actually fine by me. 

The feud between Ziggler and Ryder has been going on for more than three months now, but it’s been done extremely well. It's helped to elevate Ryder to the highest point of his career and put Ziggler over as one of the best pure wrestlers in the WWE. 

Meanwhile, I’ve really enjoyed the rivalry between Randy Orton and Wade Barrett. They feuded once before in 2010, but that was an Orton squash-fest while their current rivalry is much more balanced and seems to be helping Barrett regain all of the momentum he lost in the first half of 2011. 

I could definitely sit through another month-plus of Ziggler/Ryder and Orton/Barrett, especially when you consider that the Royal Rumble pay-per-view is right around the corner. 

There’s really not much point in putting forth a ton of effort to build up new feuds over the course of the next few weeks, when the majority of the focus at the pay-per-view will be on the 30-man Rumble match. 

Keep the current feuds going, let them extend all the way until the Royal Rumble and then build toward the feuds you really want to see (especially if you want to see them get singles matches) after the pay-per-view.
