Boise State Football: Will Kellen Moore Ever Get the Respect He Deserves?

Kellen Moore has been one of the best college quarterbacks in history. He holds the record for most wins by a quarterback in NCAA history and has shattered a number of school records at Boise State.

But he has fallen out of the national spotlight after his Broncos lost in a heartbreaker to TCU and he failed to become a repeat Heisman finalist.

Will Moore ever get the respect he deserves?

At this point, it doesn’t appear likely.

Moore has done some great things in his career, but he doesn’t have a signature moment like predecessor Jared Zabransky did in the Fiesta Bowl. After being snubbed for a BCS bowl this season, he will have only had one BCS game on his resume and it was against TCU, which some people don’t consider to be very legitimate because the Horned Frogs aren’t in a BCS conference.

Moore is infinitely better than guys like Timmy Chang and Colt Brennan, but he will likely end up in the same category as those Hawaii players; great college players who got their wins against bad opponents.

Is it true? Absolutely not, but the odds of Moore going on to have a successful NFL career are next to nothing. He is undersized at 5’11” and his throwing motion needs a lot of work. That means his legacy will only be in the college game and, without a true signature moment to hang his hat on, he’ll be more of a guy who is mentioned just because of his stats.

There is one way he can get that respect, though, but it will have to happen with Moore on the sidelines as a coach. If he can continue his success as a coach, then maybe people will finally recognize what he’s done during his time at Boise State as something that is once in a generation.

Kellen will get some respect but never as much as he deserves unless he continues his success as either an NFL quarterback or as a coach.
