Serie A Transfer Rumours: 15 Deals Involving Italian Powers
With less than two weeks to go until the transfer window reopens, clubs around Europe are working overtime to get the players they want in January.
Italians clubs are no exception. Teams like AC Milan, Inter Milan and Juventus always keep busy in the transfer market and we can also expect to hear from other Serie A powers like AS Roma and Lazio.
Here are 15 of the latest deals we've heard about that involve Italian teams.
Carlos Tevez to Milan
1 of 15You already know what's been going on with Carlos Tevez over the last several months, so we won't waste your time rehashing that here.
The latest news is that the rumoured Tevez-to-Milan deal will not be a loan. According to Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini, any deal will be permanent.
If Milan decide not to sign Tevez, PSG have said they will make a bid.
Maxi Lopez to Somewhere
2 of 15Catania general manager Pietro Lo Monaco says he's "90 percent sure" Maxi Lopez will leave the club in January. He's just not sure where Lopez will go.
As SkySports reports, Lopez could go to Milan if the Rossoneri fail to sign Carlos Tevez. Otherwise, Catania have "other offers" for the Argentine.
Paul Pogba to Inter
3 of 15This one is supposed to be a summer transfer, but you never know what might happen.
According to various reports, Manchester United's Paul Pogba was set to open contract talks with Inter Milan for a summer move. A few days later, United manager Sir Alex Ferguson reportedly urged Pogba to stay.
The French teenager has seen some first-team action this season, but his contract is up in the summer. If United know they can't keep him, they might want to sell to avoid losing him for nothing.
Salomon Kalou to Juventus
4 of 15Salomon Kalou is one of several Chelsea players rumoured to be available this winter as manager Andre Villas-Boas overhauls his squad.
According to the Mail Online, Kalou is wanted by Juventus. Kalou, an Ivory Coast international, will potentially miss several weeks for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.
Alex to Juventus
5 of 15Alex is another Chelsea player reportedly on the transfer list as Andre Villas-Boas looks to revamp his team.
And like Salomon Kalou, Alex is being linked with a move to Juventus. As that article notes, Arsenal are also reportedly interested.
The Italian giants have been interested in Alex since at least October.
David Luiz to Juventus
6 of 15David Luiz is, you guessed it, the third Chelsea player being linked with a move from Chelsea.
According to the Mail Online, Alex would cost about £2 million. David Luiz, however, would bring in £15 million.
David Luiz joined the Blues only last January, for £24 million from Benfica.
Lukas Podolski to Milan or Juventus
7 of 15FC Köln's Lukas Podolski has been linked strongly with a move to Arsenal, and that seems to be his most likely transfer destination. But some Italian teams are also in the mix.
Goal.com seem to think Podolski is equally likely to move to AC Milan or Juventus.
Milan were also interested last spring.
Fabio Quagliarella to Somewhere
8 of 15The potential transfer of Juventus' Fabio Quagliarella is a matter of intense speculation.
Some reports have him "tight-lipped" over a move to AC Milan, while others have him saying he's not going anywhere.
"Leave Juventus? I have no intention of going away from Turin," Quagliarella is quoted as saying by SkySports. "Others can speak about the market but for me it is important that Conte has always expressed confidence. It's normal that everyone wants to play but for the good of the team I respect his choices. I am in a great team and I try to be ready to get involved."
Quagliarella, a 28-year-old striker, has appeared 25 times for Italy, scoring six goals. He joined Juventus in 2010, initially on loan from Napoli before a permanent move was agreed upon in 2011.
Paulinho to Somewhere
9 of 15According to this report, Corinthians star Paulinho wants to stay in Brazil—but he might be persuaded to move to Italy for the right deal.
Sure, Paulinho. Way to work the market.
Paulinho, 23, helped Corinthians win Brazil's Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A in 2011 and was named to the league's team of the year. He has appeared once for Brazil's senior squad.
Eduardo Vargas to Napoli (Done?)
10 of 15After a long paper chase that included clubs for England and Italy, Chilean striker Eduardo Vargas recently announced—live on the radio, no less—that he would move from Universidad de Chile to Napoli in January.
""Yes I will be joining Napoli, a large team in Italy," Vargas said on Chilean radio. "I'm sure I'll do very well there. I know Cavani and Lavezzi. I am very happy that everything was tied up quickly, and for me to play in Italy is a dream come true."
"
Um, OK. Everybody convinced?
Vargas, who was recently named Chilean Player of the Year, has received nine international caps, scoring two goals.
Paulo Pybala to Serie A
11 of 15Paulo Pybala is an 18-year-old Argentine forward who plays for Instituto in Argentina's Nacional B.
Goal.com says he's being tracked by clubs from Serie A. The article says Napoli, Inter and Lazio are interested in Pybala.
A January transfer is unlikely, but a summer move is possible.
Jefferson Farfan to Inter
12 of 15Back in the realm of established footballers, 27-year-old midfielder/forward Jefferson Farfan of Schalke 04 is reportedly drawing interest from Inter Milan.
Back in November, SkySports reported Schalke were open to offers for the Peruvian, who would be available for about £10 million.
Claudio Pizarro to Inter
13 of 15Here's a blast from the past. Claudio Pizarro, the 33-year-old former Bayern Munich star, is being linked with a move to Serie A.
Goal.com reported that Pizarro "would be open to a move to Inter" in January. But SkySports later reported that his club, Werder Bremen, aren't willing to sell.
Pizarro, a Peruvian international with 15 goals in 60 caps, has scored 12 times in 14 appearances for Werder Bremen this season.
Martin Caceres to Juventus
14 of 15Martin Caceres, a 24-year-old Uruguayan defender, is being linked with a return to Juventus, where he played on loan from 2009-10.
Currently with Sevilla, Caceres has also played for Villarreal, Barcelona and Reacreativo.
According to Goal.com, Juventus would pay €3 million in January to bring Caceres back to Turin. A further €7 million would secure a permanent move in the summer.
Raul Albiol to Juventus
15 of 15There seems to be some confusion over the future of Real Madrid's 26-year-old defender Raul Albiol.
First, there are reports that Juventus are interested. Then there aren't.
Whatever the case, Albiol clearly isn't in favour at Real Madrid anymore. He's made only five La Liga appearances this season.
