Tim Tebow and 9 NFL Players Whose Futures Are Still in Doubt
Tim Tebow has nearly lead the once-left-for-dead Denver Broncos into the playoffs this season, but he is one of many players around the league whose future is still up in the air heading into next season.
Tebow has yet to get a vote of confidence from his boss John Elway, which rings true for the rest of the members of this list.
Here are 10 NFL players whose future is looking grey heading into the 2012 season.
Vince Young
1 of 10At one point in time, Philadelphia Eagles backup quarterback Vince Young was the third overall pick in the 2006 NFL draft by the Tennessee Titans. He now finds himself likely on the outs with his current employer.
Young started in place of an injured Michael Vick three times this season, going 2-1 with four touchdowns and twice as many interceptions.
The former Titan made some flashy plays under center, but more often than not, he was making bad decisions that lead to his near double-digit turnovers for VY in just three starts.
Reggie Bush
2 of 10Just as the former USC Trojan had hoped this offseason, going to the Miami Dolphins has revived his professional career.
After a mediocre run with the New Orleans Saints, Bush has been on a tear down in South Beach during the latter part of this regular season, posting three straight 100-plus-yard games on the ground, with 203 last week against AFC East rival Buffalo.
The issue for Bush is what Miami will choose to do with rookie Daniel Thomas heading into next season. Both will most likely be on the 'Phins' roster, but will this become yet another NFL time share?
This scenario could be beneficial for most backs, but it would certainly hinder No. 22's ability to become viewed as one of the best at his position and dash his wishes of becoming an every-down back.
Felix Jones
3 of 10After losing his starting job to rookie sensation DeMarco Murray earlier this season, the injury to his teammate has allowed Felix Jones the opportunity to prove his worth to the Dallas Cowboys.
Jones has had back to back 100-plus-yard performances against the New York Giants and Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the last two weeks.
The Arkansas alum will have trouble reclaiming his starting job next season though assuming Murray heals properly from his fractured right ankle.
These two could become another time share, but with the way Murray was running earlier in this season, Jones will need to continue his recent hot streak through the rest of the Cowboys' season.
Albert Haynesworth
4 of 10Now, Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth could be "Tebowing" in this photo, but he could also just be out of breath.
Since receiving his $100 million contract from the Washington Redskins, the two-time Pro Bowl selection has played his way off two teams, and his future in Tampa is unsure.
While the Bucs could likely keep Haynesworth on the cheap, that means the team would be playing a veteran with a limited ceiling over a young player who could become their long-term answer at the position.
Don't be surprised to see this defensive lineman without a team come 2012.
Chad Ochocinco
5 of 10At the beginning of the season, New England Patriots fans were excited to have Haynesworth and Chad Ochocinco on their roster, believing the two would flourish in Foxboro.
Unfortunately for the Patriots' fanbase, these predictions did not come to fruition, with Haynesworth off the team and Ochocinco catching his first touchdown pass of the season just last week against the Denver Broncos.
The former Cincinnati Bengal has long been rumored to be a candidate to be cut from Bill Belichick's roster and could meet that fate come this upcoming offseason.
Terrell Owens
6 of 10Talking about grey futures, Terrell Owens has yet to play a snap this NFL season, still waiting for the call from a team in need of a wide receiver.
T.O. recently had to tweet to his followers that he isn't retired, and when you have to remind people that you're not retired, that's not a good sign by any means.
There's a fair chance that the former Tennessee-Chattanooga standout could find himself in Canton, Ohio before he finds himself on another active roster.
Jason Campbell
7 of 10Jason Campbell has had one of the most unfortunate NFL careers in recent memory, and now, with Carson Palmer wearing the silver and black, finds himself on the outs with his team.
You'll see in this photo that Campbell is wearing a captain's patch on his jersey, but he might not even find himself on the roster next year considering how much money the Raiders would have to pay both players if they were to both stay on the roster.
Oakland is not big enough for both QBs in 2012, and there's a fair chance Campbell is the one who gets handed the walking papers in the offseason.
Darren McFadden
8 of 10Staying in the black hole, while I don't believe Darren McFadden is getting cut by the Raiders anytime soon, one has to wonder if his career will continue to be plagued by injuries.
It feels like every season since making the jump to the professional level, McFadden has gone down with one injury or another and Michael Bush has to carry the load during the latter of the regular seasons.
"Run DMC" has suffered a big toe, hamstring and now foot injury over the course of three different seasons.
McFadden is a great talent and could have many trips to Hawaii in his future, but he'll need to overcome the plague of injuries he has suffered since leaving Arkansas.
Roy Williams
9 of 10Roy Williams once seemed to be destined to achieve Calvin Johnson-like success in the National Football League, but now, he finds himself continuing his recent years of mediocrity in Chicago with the Bears.
Through 14 games this season, the former first-round draft pick finds himself with just 366 yards receiving and only one touchdown in his first season with Chicago.
While the Bears receiving corps is not on the level of the Green Bay Packers or Dallas Cowboys, Williams has been arguable their least contributing receiver and might decide their money could be best spent elsewhere before the beginning of the 2012 regular season.
Tim Tebow
10 of 10Tim Tebow has brought an excitement to Denver and, quite frankly, to the NFL that hasn't been seen in quite some time, but he still finds himself without a vote of confidence from his boss John Elway.
Elway claims he will work with the former NCAA champion over the upcoming offseason, but he seems to be hesitant to commit to his current starting quarterback and the unique offense that comes with him.
If Tebow is able to bring the Broncos into the playoffs, and especially if he pulls of his magic and Denver wins a postseason matchup, it would be hard for any of the higher-ups in the Mile High City to cut ties with the captivating quarterback.
