January Transfer Window: 1 Move Each Major Club Would Make If Fans Ran the Team

Mikhail TurnerDec 20, 2011

What would you do if you were in charge of your favourite club?

Fans of the major clubs across Europe have to sit by and hear about transfer rumours on the television or read about them online, but cannot do anything about it. Unless you have Football Manager or FIFA 12, that is.

If the fans ran the clubs, World Football would definitely be a different place.

While I cannot say that I am a fan of all these teams, I think it is possible to suggest what real fans would do if they did run the club.

Here is a look at the one possible move each major club would make if fans ran the club.

Arsenal Fans to Buy Lukas Podolski

1 of 11

The rumours might be there, but nothing is true until it is official.

Arsenal is certainly in need of another striker to help ease the load on Robin Van Persie. While there are currently other issues within the squad—mainly the injury crisis at full-back—the striker position is the most important at the moment.

With Robin Van Persie the team's only real potent player offensively, help is needed to make a good run both in Europe and the remaining domestic competitions. That is where Podolski comes in.

Podolski can play on the left wing as well as up front, and while he may not be a first-team regular in every game, he would be put to good use.

Chelsea Fans to Buy Gary Cahill

2 of 11

This Chelsea team hasn't had problems scoring goals this season, but they have had problems keeping them out.

While they were able to stave off the free-scoring Manchester City team recently, the late goal against Wigan is evidence that defensive help is needed.

It may take some arguing for the fans to decide between Cahill and the likes of Luka Modric, but it may well come down to the English defender.

Cahill obviously needs new surroundings, and Chelsea may be just the place for him.

Manchester United to Buy Wesley Sneijder

3 of 11

Manchester United is strong in every area of the pitch, but the midfield could use do with a boost.

Wesley Sneijder has been touted as the option in midfield time and again, and if fans had it their way he would join the club.

Sneijder's entrance would enable Wayne Rooney to focus more on putting chances in the back of the net rather than helping the team create said chances.

The Dutch playmaker has done well wherever he has played, and it would be no different at United.

Manchester City Fans to Get Rid of Tevez No Matter What

4 of 11

Right now, AC Milan looks like the destination for Carlos Tevez, but nothing is set in stone.

Manchester City does not wish to loan out the player and want to permanently get rid of him. It may end up being that Manchester City does not get rid of Tevez because of this insistence on selling and the high fee.

While the fans would surely want to gain some money off this troublesome player, they would rather see the back off him no matter what. Even if the price is cheaper than Manchester City already stated, the fans would make certain that Carlos Tevez leaves Manchester for good.

Liverpool Fans to Buy Fernando Llorente

5 of 11

Liverpool has needs up front and even more so now with Luis Suarez banned for eight games

Andy Carroll has not impressed too much since his time in Merseyside, and he has not contributed much to Liverpool's 20 Premier League goals.

Liverpool's defense is the best in the league right now, but they need some more firepower. Liverpool fans could look to another tall striker in the form of Athletic Bilbao forward, Fernando Llorente.

Llorente has goals in him and may very well relish the challenge of the EPL.

Real Madrid Fans to Buy Neymar

6 of 11

After hearing that Neymar reportedly plead to Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola to take him to Catalonia, Real Madrid fans would probably throw the kitchen sink at Santos to get the phenom.

Why? Because they can, and they would absolutely love to get a win over their rivals for once. There is nothing else to it really.

Okay, yes, he is in an amazing prospect and would be the future of Los Merengues alongside Cristiano Ronaldo's supremely insured legs.

Barcelona Fans to Promote from Within

7 of 11

As a Barcelona fan myself, I do not think the team needs any new players, and I think most Barcelona fans would agree. Even with David Villa's recent injury, there is no need for the team to go out and buy new talent.

There are players like Rafinha and Gerard Deulofeu waiting in the wings, and their introduction into the first team could signal the beginning of the worlds next big superstar.

Barcelona has been getting its money's worth with Cesc Fabregas and Alexis Sanchez, but the fans will look to continue the recent trend of promoting home-grown talent.

AC Milan Fans to Buy Ganso

8 of 11

Carlos Tevez may be at the front of everyone's minds, and it is a little bit easy to say fans would go after him. One thing fans would probably do though is buy Ganso.

There has not been much Ganso to AC Milan talk since the summer, but one has to suspect that if fans were in charge he may be an option come January.

Why?

Why not?

Milan would have the chance to hone another young Brazilian talent into possibly the world's best playmaker. Ganso would give the Rossoneri a playmaker for years to come.

Inter Milan Fans to Buy Eden Hazard

9 of 11

Inter Milan boss Claudio Ranieri will have money to spend in January. How would the fans spend that money? The team hasn't been too great on either end of the pitch despite obvious quality in all positions.

The team needs a spark and they could get it on the attacking front. If Wesley Sneijder does become an option for Manchester United, Inter could find a youthful replacement in the form of Eden Hazard.

The fans and club alike got see Hazard play against them up close and personal in the Champions League and my have liked what they saw.

If Sneijder does stay, the possibility of him and Hazard linking up with the likes of Mauro Zarate or Giampaolo Pazzini would be sure to excite the fans.

Juventus Fans to Buy Salomon Kalou

10 of 11

Milos Krasic may be out the door in January, and Eljero Elia could follow. Both wing players seem to be out of favour at Juventus and replacements will be needed. Salomon Kalou looks like he will be exiting Stamford Bridge in January. It couldn't work out any better.

Juventus fans could get a skillful player who would want to prove himself in a new environment and he may not come at a hefty price.

Juventus has the second best defense in the league, and the midfield is quite solid. Kalou could come in and give the team an even more potent offense.

Bayern Munich Fans to Buy Marco Reus

11 of 11

Bayern Munich's squad is pretty solid and you could make a strong case that they really don't need any more players.

The Bayern Munich fans could be getting annoyed with Arjen Robben's constant injuries despite his productivity when fit.

Marco Reus could provide an option who is young, skillful and increase the German contingent within the squad.

Reus would push Arjen Robben for a starting spot, and if Robben is out for a prolonged period he could wrestle the starting spot from him.
