NBA Rumors: Nets Must Add D12 To Prevent Embarrassing Brooklyn Debut
Nets fans had better hope that the rumor Lakers Play by Play announcer, John Ireland, is circulating is true. Ireland reportedly heard a rumor from a source that a trade sending Dwight Howard to New Jersey could be done as soon as today.
Imagine what would happen if the Nets deliver a product to their new Brooklyn fanbase with MarShon Brooks, Anthony Morrow and their top selection in the 2012 NBA Draft as the best players on the team.
That is worse case scenario, as it would mean Deron Williams opted out and went elsewhere at the end of this season. Brook Lopez, who will be a restricted free-agent, also isn't retained and the still-unsigned Kris Humphries would likely get away as well.
That would be catastrophic for the Nets. Humphries has been placed on hold while the Nets figure out if they can grab Howard. What is Plan B?
It really doesn't appear that their is a viable alternative plan in place. The chain reaction from not landing the premier center in the NBA will be felt throughout the player ranks, and it sustains the Nets' status as an east coast joke.
Nets fans hope that Howard's potential arrival can bring about the hope and contention that Chris Paul's has to the Clippers franchise, but as of now, it is all just rumors.
Sooner or later, this rumor needs to be fact to save the Nets a less than spectacular BK unveiling.
