WWE News: Skip Sheffield Teasing That He Is Behind Cryptic "It Begins Videos"

Drake OzDec 20, 2011

There have been all kinds of theories as to who is behind the WWE’s cryptic “It Begins” videos that have been airing on WWE programming for the last several weeks, with The Undertaking and Chris Jericho being the most common picks.

We’ve also seen some potential wild cards thrown out there, such as someone from the McMahon family or even Batista

But Skip Sheffield? I’ve only seen a couple of fans bring up his name when talking about the “It Begins” videos, but Sheffield himself seems to be hinting that he is indeed the man behind the WWE’s latest series of videos.

Skip Sheffield, who has been on the sideline for almost a year and is expected to return to WWE soon, tweeted several cryptic messages over the weekend.

Sheffield hinted that he could be the man behind the recent “It Begins” videos and could be returning as his “Ryback” Terminator character.

“Sitting in a chair at a table in Sin City wondering why this ladder is in front of me? Laughing at the gossip, the Secret Power, it begins..

Who am I? Only time will tell, but rest assured narkboys Im not a Terminator sent to save John Connor. I also hate College Station #Fake

I refuse to type it yyywid is fake, accept n forget. My life my rules. Born n raised in Sin City, soon a psycho will be unleashed. #Patience”

It’s worth noting that back in October, it was reported that WWE applied to register a new trademarks for the name “Ryback.”

I was never crazy about Sheffield’s ridiculous “Corn-fed meathead” gimmick, but prior to his injury last August, I actually thought he was decent in the ring for a big man and could be a solid mid-card powerhouse for the WWE going forward.

That being said, it would be a monumental letdown if Sheffield was the one behind the “It Begins” videos.

I’m all for creating new stars and helping build up new talent for the long-term, but this isn’t the time to do that. The “It Begins” videos have to be meant for a huge returning star who will provide an instant lift to the WWE.

They can’t be used for a returning or debuting star/character who may or may not get over with the WWE audience. They have to be used for someone who is guaranteed to make a huge splash in the company.

With all due respect to Sheffield—or is it Ryback?—the chances of him doing that are slim to none. I’m fine with him coming back soon, but he cannot and should not be the man behind these videos.

We need to see someone like Jericho or The Undertaker on Jan. 2.
