Pacquiao vs. Mayweather: Pac-Man Throws Money Punch to Set Up Superfight

Wes ODonnellDec 19, 2011

Manny Pacquiao doesn't have money troubles like Floyd "Money" Mayweather.

The Filipino champion has plenty going on and is simply trying to make the most of his remaining boxing years before moving on to other things.

Although unfair, his remaining boxing years will be defined by whether or not he fights the undefeated American before his career is over.

According to Nick Giongco's report out of Manila, Pac-Man is willing to give the lion's share of the purse to Mayweather in effort to get the fight set up:

"

Pacquiao is willing to take the smaller piece of the pie as long as the dream fight takes place.

“Walang problema kahit pa mas maliit ang premyo ko,” said Pacquiao, who turned 33 on Saturday. “Ang importante ay matuloy lang ang laban.”

Pacquiao’s pronouncement that he is giving Mayweather the lion’s share of the pot only puts credence that he is moving heaven and earth to make it happen.

"

He also says that promoter Bob Arum has mentioned many times in the past month that Pacquiao has met Mayweather's demands on random blood testing.

This was the sticking point that derailed the fight before and hopefully it continues to be a non-issue.

Pacquiao hasn't thrown a complete haymaker with the this move, but he certainly threw a "money" punch at the man nicknamed Money.

Mayweather will have to really dig deep to find an excuse to bail from the fight now.

The American already has the MGM Grand booked for his next fight in May 2012 regardless of whether it is Pacquiao or not.

The Filipino is going to sit down with Arum in January to figure out his future.

If these two can't put aside differences now, with money and blood out of the way, then there is no shot in hell we'll ever see these two trade punches.

That won't be on Pacquiao though, not after the sacrifices he's made in trying to set this fight up.

If Pac-Man and Mayweather don't step into the ring, the fingers will pointed at only one corner.
