NFL Power Rankings: A Look at the Top Teams in Each Conference

Chris TrapassoDec 19, 2011

While there aren't any seismic changes atop each conference, Sunday of Week 15 surely did it's part to shake things up in the NFL

Let's analyze the best teams in the NFC and AFC after a crazy weekend.

NFC

Green Bay Packers

If you called a Chiefs victory over the Packers, who hadn't lost in over a full calendar year, you deserve some kind of award.

If you called Aaron Rodgers completing less than 49 percent of his passes while throwing for only 235 yards, get a hold of me, we'll start an NFL predictions website together because you are a football genius.

I guess the loss of Greg Jennings really does hamper Green Bay's offense.

Seemed like they wouldn't miss a beat because Rodgers distributes the ball to all his pass-catchers so well.

Although Green Bay will probably still wrap up the No. 1 seed in the NFC, this game definitely generated some worry for Packers fans.

The defense must improve against the run and pass.

New Orleans Saints

I knew Brees was going to go off. Didn't you? He is playing the best football at the quarterback position.

Don't believe me?

He has thrown for at least 322 yards in five straight games now and has 16 touchdown passes with no interceptions over that time.

Yikes.

I don't care what the defense does.

If Brees continues to operate his offense this efficiently, watch out.

Getting that No. 2 seed would be huge.

We know how incredibly energized New Orleans is in a dome.

AFC

New England Patriots

It was all about the Broncos this week, but as usual, the Patriots were involved in a marquee matchup that captivated NFL fans across the country, and they came out on top.

Seriously, how many times has Brady won one of these "huge" regular seasons that's the most hyped contest during the week?

They've quietly won six consecutive games, and although he hasn't been Brees, but Brady's been close.

Over the win streak, No. 12 has two games in which he threw for less than 300 yards and has 15 touchdowns and one interception.

If the defense can force turnovers with some regularity, they'll be a tough out in the postseason, I don't care where they're playing.

Stop Rob Gronkowski, fine.

Don't forget Aaron Hernandez.

Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers are in the No. 2 spot before their game tonight with the 49ers. Anyone else pumped for a prime-time game that actually should be a good, hard-nosed battle?

The defense is still top-notch, Rashard Mendenhall is running with more conviction and we all know about the premier speed in the receiving corp.

However, the season hinges on Ben Roethlisberger, well actually, on his ankle.

If he can play for the remainder of the regular season and is healthy for the playoffs, the Steelers are primed for another run at the Super Bowl.

Unreal.
