WWE TLC 2011: Why Daniel Bryan and CM Punk Are the New Mega Powers

Donald WoodDec 19, 2011

CM Punk and Daniel Bryan are the future of the WWE.

Now that they have the World titles secured, it’s time to form an alliance.

While Punk and Bryan aren’t at the level Hulk Hogan and Macho Man Randy Savage were when they formed the Mega Powers, the general idea of such an alliance would be a great addition to the WWE right now.

Both of these champions are Ring of Honor alumni, so making their stable based on that alliance will open the doors to bring in more stars from the underground federation.

Just like when the ECW invaded back in the 2000s, the WWE can use ROH to not only train young superstars for big-time action but to let some bigger stars work at ROH shows to legitimize that federation in the mainstream.

While that would be the smart idea business-wise, I hope that ROH denies these WWE advances and remains independent. That way, WWE can still sign talent from the company, but they can also continue to grow as an underground sensation.

No matter whether the duo of Punk and Bryan is leading a stable or just aligned with each other, the rub Bryan would get from Punk would make this duo into the most powerful force in WWE.

It would be the new Kliq.

But bigger.

My idea would be to align these gentlemen and make them help each other hold onto their respective belts. The duo could become long-term title holders if they are continually getting involved in the each other’s matches in order to help their partner secure a victory.

With all of the SuperShow talk, the pool of wrestlers is already so jumbled up that the brand split doesn’t even matter. Let Bryan and Punk become a staple of the main events and fans will start to think of them as the company’s top guys.

Imagine how over they would be if Punk faced John Cena for the belt and Daniel Bryan helped his partner steal the win.

The WWE universe would worship Bryan.
