WWE TLC 2011: 5 Things That Must Happen at Tonight's PPV

Daniel MasseyDec 18, 2011

In just under an hour, the final pay-per-view of the year will be underway.

There have been some brilliant PPV events this year, so WWE could do with going into 2012 on a high.

Though I don’t think it will beat Money in the Bank or Vengeance for excitement, it still has the potential to become the third greatest PPV of 2011.

However, for this to happen, the following five points must occur, otherwise the event is likely to fall flat on its face.

So, sit back, relax and enjoy this last-minute preview of TLC 2011.

A Huge Ladder Spot

1 of 5

TLC is synonymous with death-defying stunts and tonight should be no different.

I don’t want wrestlers to legitimately risk their lives while entertaining me, however, I do believe that a huge ladder spot will be needed to keep the crowd on side.

Whether it comes in the Triple H/Kevin Nash match (unlikely) or the triple threat TLC match (a bit more likely) won’t matter.

The excitement factor won’t be there if they don’t come up with something brilliant to do with the everyday object.

Pushing the boundaries is no longer an issue, but fans still expect “OMG” moments in ladder matches.

A Sickening Chair Shot

2 of 5

Remember at WrestleMania 27 when Triple H levelled the Undertaker with a cracking chair shot?

I’m not saying someone should take one unguarded to the face like many wrestlers used to, but I am saying there needs to be a thunderous chair shot in the Big Show/Mark Henry match to keep the crowd hanging on for a third time.

The two men have admittedly put on great showings at the last two PPV events they have fought at, but to end the trilogy something needs to happen, and I think what needs to happen is a disgusting chair shot.

I’m not bothered if they get their hands up and it’s obvious, just as long as some aggression is shown.

Otherwise, there is not really a lot of point in a chairs match.

No John Cena

3 of 5

John Cena will not be at TLC...apparently. I really hope it stays this way. I know they are at risk of losing many Cena fans' interest because of this, but it will make for a much better PPV in my eyes.

Taking this risk is finally showing that they are willing to take a chance on the stars of tomorrow, and if they pull it out of the bag, then the PPV will be a huge success.

This will also go down well with the IWC who are, quite frankly, sick of the Cena overload that gets shoved down their throats every two minutes.

Zack Ryder Winning Gold

4 of 5

Zack Ryder is probably one of the most popular superstars on the Internet.

Getting himself over with an Internet show was the smartest thing a superstar has ever done when they have been in danger of getting buried.

He now comes out to huge applause and has the crowd on his side, but to legitimise him as a proper WWE superstar, I do believe he must win the US title.

Doing so would allow him to develop and get over with the fans that aren’t familiar with True Long Island Story.

It would also allow Dolph Ziggler to begin the rise to the main event as he has improved vastly over the past couple of months.

Making the Sledgehammer Ladder Match Work

5 of 5

This is vital to the PPV success in my opinion.

It is a match that most people could care less about.

Two aged superstars going at it in the worst match since the Kennel from Hell.

However, they could make it work and with Triple H being the ultimate ring-general I have faith that he will.

People have been too quick to put down this match just because of how it sounds on paper, but until anyone actually sees it how can we know for sure?

I’m not saying it will be the best match of 2011 because it most certainly will not be, but give it a chance people!

If they can create a buzz at the start of the match and some tension when reaching for the sledgehammer then I believe the hard work will be done.

Also covering up any ring-rust Kevin Nash may be experiencing will be essential.

Enjoy the PPV!
