WWE TLC 2011 Results: 20 Things We Learned

David LevinDec 18, 2011

One hellacious night and a lot of questions both answered and unanswered. Time will only tell if there greater powers will use what happened tonight and build on it.

Miz and Alberto Del Rio werent't on the same page.

Beth Phoenix was what what expected and then there were the things that weren't expected.

All I know if the Royal Rumble on January 29 should be pretty interesting.

Here is what we learned from Tables, Ladders and Chairs from tonight.

20. Beth Phoenix Will Be Champion Until...

1 of 20

We see someone like Kharma or Lita come back to the ring.

There is not another woman in wrestling or the WWE right now that can compete with her.

She is power, beauty and brawn.

And if Natalya gets some "stones" and tries to challenge her, that may slow her down, but it will not stop her.

19. Cody Rhodes Really Doesn't Want Any of Booker T

2 of 20

Rhodes has all his hands full with the massive Booker T.

Was this a good thing for wrestling? I used to say "no" but now I am not so sure.

This could be a very good rivalry. And the fact the storyline had the Intercontinental Champion jump the future Hall of Famer just means there is still heat for this kind of angle.

This is getting good.

18. How Long Will Zack Ryder Be the U.S. Champion?

3 of 20

Ryder has been touted for a few weeks now as the second coming of (add your WWE superstar).

He finally added a "real" title to his resume.

With becoming the U.S. Champion, it means we can all take Ryder seriously.

With John Cena backing him and the fans getting behind him, it looks like Ryder may become a "Cena-like" figure at some point.

How long he will be the champion is anyone's guess. He could lose it on Monday for all we know.

17. Air Boom Are Back on Track

4 of 20

With the win by Kofi Kingston and Evan Bourne we learned a few things about the tag team.

They are still the only true full-time tag team competiing regularly in the WWE. And, they are back on track to take on all comers in the WWE.

It also means a team like Primo and Epico could be a player in the new year. Hopefully, there will be more exciting tag teams in line in the future for both Smackdown and Raw,

16. Randy Orton Exacts Revenge Against Wade Barrett

5 of 20

I really thought we would see a passing of the torch, so to speak.

But Wade Barrett fell to "The Viper" at TLC.

It was the kind of revenge Orton is known for.

Barrett had embarrassed Orton on several occasions in the recent weeks. And like Mark Henry before, i thought and fans as well, thought Barrett had become the beast of Smackdown.

Orton's win only means his is still a major player on Smackdown and in the title picture.

What happens to Barrett, we can only hope it means he is still a force to be reckoned with.

15. The Loss by Dolph Ziggler Means He Can Go After WWE Title Gold

6 of 20

Ziggler lost the US Title tonight, but that does not mean his chance at future gold is gone.

Ziggler has been red hot as of late and has sold for the likes of CM Punk and Zack Ryder.

Will his pursuits be rewarded?

Ziggler should be in title contention for the WWE Title. A Feud with CM Punk or maybe John Cena or when he comes back, R-Truth; they all could be interesting.

14. The Kevin Nash/Triple H Match Short, but Better Than We Thought

7 of 20

We all thought this would be a pretty bad match. And it was pretty decent.

Triple H is back in rare form, although a little slower than he has been. And Kevin Nash did better in the ring than anticipated.

I am sure this is not the end of the "battle" but Triple H will not be returning to the ring regularly anytime soon.

13. Jack Swagger Really Has No Real Purpose in the WWE Other Than a Jobber

8 of 20

Can someone tell me what Sheamus and Jack Swagger's match proved tonight?

Other than Swagger again becoming a jobber for the big Irishman, he needs to find another angle.

I guess Sheamus cannot find a feud and therefore is caught in dead space.

Sheamus is too talented and too good right now not to be chasing a title. Injuries have caused scheduling changes and are keeping the big man down.

He deserves a title run.

12. Big Show Wins World Title...

9 of 20

Even with one hand, Big Show ko'ed Mark Henry and claimed the World Title from the World's Strongest Man.

It started out slow and did not have a lot of momentum. But Big Show knocked out the former champion.

The win was shortlived because...

11. Daniel Bryan Cashes in MITB and Wins the World Title

10 of 20

Daniel Bryan brought a referee down to the ring when a fallen Big Show is knocked out with a chair shot and beats Big Show.

I thought this may happen at some point. I really was not expecting it this evening.

Bryan is now a "hot" ticket again. He is back on top and it will be interesting to see how WWE market's him and who will feud with him.

Also, what happens to the angle of Big Show and Daniel Bryan?

Does Kane play a role in this as well?

10. Booker T Gets Assaulted Twice and Then Takes It to Cody Rhodes

11 of 20

Booker T took a lot of punishment from Cody Rhodes with the Intercontinental Title on the line.

Two sudden attacks and then  he finally got into the ring.

And for someone out of the ring for the last two years, Booker T brought it.

But in the end, Rhodes defeated the veteran.

9. Vickie Guerrero Had a Very Bad Night

12 of 20

First, Dolph Ziggler loses the US Title and then Jack Swagger loses to Sheamus.

Heads are about to start to roll.

Does this mean Guerrero finds more stable mates?

Can "The Cougar" regroup and find success again?

I am sure she will find a way.

8. John Laurinaitis Keeps Texting...but to Who?

13 of 20

The spiny general manager has shown a little more guile the past few weeks. But he is still a gutless worm.

I am just wondering, "who is the person he is texting?"

At some point the "textee" must come out of the shadows.

I swear it is just as bad as the "unknown" Raw General Manager.

7. Tattoo Got Tattooed!

14 of 20

Seeing Ricardo Rodriguez get involved in the match for the WWE Title was not a surprise.

Seeing him fall off the ladder and land on the table was.

After handcuffing CM Punk to the ladder and then climbing the ladder to try and capture the WWE Title was a laughter, but was made up for it when the midget fell into the wood table.

6. John Cena Played No Role in the Event

15 of 20

Shockingly, John Cena was not in a PPV event for the WWE.

I thought and a lot of the WWE Universe thought Cena would some how play a role in this event.

Even if it was to help Zack Ryder along, but no, the former WWE Champions stayed away.

Not having him there was actually refreshing.

5. What Happened to Kane?

16 of 20

Didn't you think that Kane would come out of the shadows once Big Show won the title?

No Kane and there are still questions left unanswered.

It will interesting to see if Kane now becomes a player in the WWE Title picture or challenges Daniel Bryan for his title.

4. The Ladder Match Was Better Than Expected

17 of 20

We saw a PPV match that may have been as good as advertised.

I was not sure what to think when the three men did their vignettes leading up to the match, but it was a better match than I thought it would be.

It was probably the best final match in a PPV since MITB.

3. CM Punk Will Hold the WWE Title for a While

18 of 20

It is proven he can carry this company.

CM Punk is the meal ticket this company needs.

Whoever challenges him now, it remains to be seen.

2. There Has to Be a New Angle for Alberto Del Rio

19 of 20

He lost, but sold really well tonight.

What is next for him? If he is not in the WWE Title picture, he is no good for Raw.

Can he and CM Punk continue a feud like this?

Will the fans remain interested?

1. The Miz Will Be WWE Champion in 2012

20 of 20

Miz really performed and looked like he would capture the WWE Title tonight.

The mic work of great and now he is performing at maybe the best level he has ever.

Can he challenge Punk and begin a rivalry that fans would embrace?
