Carolina Panthers vs. Houston Texans: Key Halftime Stats for the Texans

Joseph MerkelDec 18, 2011

At 10-3, the Texans have locked up their division, but not home-field advantage in the playoffs. While the Texans have been successful on the road, sporting a 5-2 record, playing on your home field in an electric atmosphere gives a team a supreme advantage.

With the Steelers, Ravens and Patriots also at 10-3, the Texans may end up needing a bit of help to gain home-field throughout the playoffs, but they'll have to help themselves first.

The team that wins the turnover battle is often the team that comes out on top on the scoreboard. Arian Foster's fumble and T.J. Yates' interception came back to haunt Houston as Carolina scored touchdowns off both turnovers. If the Texans want to get back in the game, they'll have to effectively create turnovers and score points off of them.

Plus-21

The Texans were No. 1 in first-half point differential coming into this game. Down 21 at home is not the way to keep that statistic going.

Houston is averaging 4.7 yards on the ground, a stout number indeed. However, Ben Tate and Arian Foster can't do this by themselves. T.J. Yates is a rookie, but during the second half he needs to completely forget that. Right now, he's just another NFL quarterback helping his team to get a crucial 11th win at home in front of their faithful fanbase.
