Kobe Bryant Divorce: Personal Problems Won't Affect Kobe on the Court

Austin GreenDec 18, 2011

Kobe Bryant is going through a messy divorce, but you shouldn't expect his personal problems to affect his play.

To those who truly love basketball, the court is a sanctuary. When you step foot on the hardwood, all of life's problems, big or small, become an afterthought.

The pounding of the ball and the swoosh of the net is the best medicine for a basketball junkie. And we all know that Kobe is one of the biggest fiends in history.

Plus, it's not like Kobe hasn't gone through much worse before.

When he was accused of sexually assaulting a woman in 2003, Bryant took the whole thing in stride. He'd spend the day in a Colorado court, then fly to L.A. and drop 30 points like it was nothing.

If he made it through that nightmare, he should be just fine now.

It's unfortunate to see him being accused of cheating on his wife again, but let's be real. I'm assuming it's pretty damn hard to maintain a healthy relationship when you're also married to the game and the lifestyle that comes with it. Kobe is only human, and humans make mistakes, especially when they're gifted with insane amounts of money and fame.

On the court, Bryant's main issues are his aching knee, the loss of Lamar Odom, the horrible point guard situation and a roster completely devoid of youth and athleticism.

If Kobe's game suffers, it will be because of his basketball-related problems. Not his personal life.
