Randy Orton WWE: Why Apex Predator Must Lose to Wade Barrett at TLC
Randy Orton has had an interesting year in WWE. He started out as one of the biggest stars in the company, and was in high-profile feuds with CM Punk and Christian. But over the course of the year he has taken a backseat to other wrestlers on SmackDown.
Now, Orton will conclude the year with a match against Wade Barrett in a tables match at TLC. This feud has a world of potential, but it only works if Barrett comes out of it looking like a star.
Orton has had his chances to do the right thing and put over young stars this year, Cody Rhodes being a prime example, but either he or the creative team decided that they didn't really want to create new stars, so Orton just beat them clean.

But now that Orton has started putting other wrestlers over, this is the perfect opportunity for WWE to make Barrett a star that can wrestle at the top of the card on a monthly basis.
And a tables match is the perfect match for Barrett to go over because Orton doesn't have to be pinned to lose. I don't think that is the best way to get a new star over, but that is how WWE works nowadays; new wrestlers go over in fluky ways that don't really make them into stars.
If that sounds confusing reading it, just imagine what it is like trying figure it out as you are watching it.
With Orton and Barrett, though, something seems to be different. Orton isn't turning into another John Cena. He doesn't come back from the brink just to look like a Superman. He is becoming that top guy who understands that the company needs to make new stars.
It is going to take time for Barrett to get over like a top star, but if Orton does the right thing and puts him over more often than not in this feud, he will be well on his way.
Barrett should have already been there after his feud with Cena last year, but we all remember what a disaster that turned out to be. He is being given a second chance, which doesn't often happen in WWE, so it is time that they showed faith in him.
Orton is strong enough as a baby face to get him over, but Barrett has to look like he can handle working with someone at Orton's level.
