NFL Playoff Predictions: Underrated Players Who Will Break out in the Playoffs
Every year we find several players who perform well in the playoff spotlight. The playoffs give fans an opportunity to see some players they haven't seen all season. These games are nationally televised and not restricted by locational coverage.
Most fans are aware of the star players like Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady, but it is the lesser known players who can change the outcome of a game.
Antonio Brown, Wide Receiver (Pittsburgh Steelers)
1 of 4Most NFL fans know Hines Ward and Mike Wallace, but Antonio Brown has emerged as one of the top young receivers in the NFL . He quietly had a great season, as he is closing in on a 1,000 yards receiving. His ability to stretch the field helped open up the Steelers' offensive attack.
Brown averages nearly 17 yards per catch, good for 12th in the entire NFL. Opposing defenses need to account for Mike Wallace, which has allowed Brown to enjoy some single coverage.
His ability to take advantage of his opportunities is what will allow him to have an impressive postseason.
Arian Foster, Running Back (Houston Texans)
2 of 4Arian Foster is a familiar name, especially in fantasy football circles. However, he deserves to be in the discussion for the top running back in the NFL. His play this season is what allowed the Texans to wrap up their first ever playoff appearance.
The entire country will get an opportunity to see Arian Foster run the football. Houston will feed him the football early and often, as he is their top offensive player.
Houston needs to ride Foster if they hope to win a playoff game or two.
Victor Cruz, Wide Receiver (New York Giants)
3 of 4New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz burst onto the scene and surprised everyone. He currently owns the No. 3 spot in total receiving yards, compiling 1,150 yards. Cruz loves to stretch the field and is averaging over 18 yards per catch.
The Giants rushing attack continues to struggle, putting a lot of pressure on Eli Manning to carry the offense. Manning has relied on his talented receiving corps to make plays. However, the emergence of Cruz has really been a difference-maker.
Opposing defenses cannot pay too much attention to Hakeem Nicks or Cruz will make them pay.
NaVorro Bowman, Linebacker (San Francisco 49ers)
4 of 4Patrick Willis is the leader and best player on the San Francisco 49ers defense. However, his teammate NaVorro Bowman has actually compiled more tackles. Bowman benefits from the presence of Willis, but his ability to make plays has impressed.
The 49ers defense would not be as dominant without Bowman's play. He is capable of covering a ton of ground and making plays from sideline to sideline. Because of his tenacity, he recorded over 10 tackles in five games this season.
Willis will get a lot of credit for the 49ers success, but Bowman also deserves attention.
