WWE TLC 2011: Booker T Will Turn Cody Rhodes into Main-Event Material

While Cody Rhodes is one of the brightest young stars in the WWE, he is not at the main-event level yet. That’s where Booker T comes in.

Booker T could carry a main event of a PPV right now and on any day of the week because he has been around the block. The fans know and respect the wrestling legend.

The WWE wants Booker T to give Cody Rhodes the main-even rub. For those not familiar with the terminology, it means that when fans see Cody Rhodes beat down on a legend like Booker T it will make Rhodes seem all that much more powerful as a heel.

These main-event talents don’t just show up and get dropped into the big picture. They have to work for years to get to that point, so when an established legend like Booker T wants to help push a star over the edge, the WWE is more than happy to oblige.

The biggest question has to be whether or not the rub from Booker T will be enough to make the crowd react to Rhodes enough for Vince McMahon to trust him with a main event.

Rhodes has become 100 times better on the mic over the last few months and I can’t help but think that has a lot to do with his father helping him. With the American Dream in Rhodes’ corner, you know his mic skills will continue to get better.

Add into the equation the on-the-job training Rhodes is getting from Booker T and all the other major stars backstage trying to teach their craft to the young talent and you have one of the brightest stars the WWE may have in its stable.

If Rhodes and Booker T put on a first-class match, expect 2012 to be the year Cody Rhodes becomes a main-event level talent.
