College Football Recruiting: Which 5-Star Studs Are Everyone Talking About?
With national signing day just around the corner, it's time to take a look at some of the top names that have not yet committed. Plenty of big names remain unsigned, including each of the top two of the Rivals 100 list.
All information on recruits comes from their pages on rivals.com.
Dorial Green-Beckham, WR
The first thing that stands out about Green-Beckham is his size. At 6'6", 220, there isn't a single offense that relies on the pass that he couldn't step in and immediately help. There isn't a single defender in the country that could do anything against him on fade routes.
It's hard to predict where he's going to go. According to Rivals, Green-Beckham has received more than 20 different offers. But he's only had official visits to Texas and Oklahoma, so it's likely that he'll be in the Big 12 in 2012.
Green-Beckham has the high school career receiving record. As a senior, he caught 119 passes for an astronomical 2,233 yards and 24 touchdowns.
Eddie Goldman, DT
Goldman is right behind Green-Beckham as the No. 2 recruit in the country. At 6'4", 307, Goldman has the size and strength to step in and make an impact wherever he signs.
Right now, it appears as though Goldman will stay in the southern part of the country, as he's had visits to Auburn, Alabama and Florida State.
His size would make him a big impact player at all of those programs. They have the defensive depth to allow him to ease his way into a starting role. By the time he reaches his final years on campus, Goldman will be a monster in the middle.
Gunner Kiel, QB
There are higher ranked players yet to commit, but Kiel is the highest ranked quarterback is available. From Indiana, Kiel has only visited Notre Dame. While he's received offers from across the country, it's likely that he'll stay in the Midwest.
While he is a 5-star prospect, Kiel is a project who would need to be groomed more than others who could step in and make an immediate impact. Still, a passing offense would do quite well to land Kiel.
