NFL Picks Week 15: Teams That Will Be Victorious in Must-Win Games

Tim KeeneyDec 17, 2011

There are only three weeks left in the NFL regular season, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t still a ton of teams still competing for playoff spots.

While plenty of teams are technically still alive, a lot of them also face must-win games this weekend. There’s a good chance the playoff picture will be a lot clearer after the Week 15 games, but here’s a look at three teams that will fight to see another day.

Oakland Raiders

This is a must-win game both ways as the Detroit Lions, Oakland’s opponent, are also right on the fringe of the playoffs.

If the Raiders want to have any chance of getting the second wild card in the AFC, they probably need to win out. As far as their division goes, they remain a game behind the white-hot Denver Broncos.

A loss wouldn’t mathematically eliminate Oakland, but it really can’t afford to fall any farther in the standings.

Detroit may currently be in a better position than Oakland, but they are trending downwards. The Lions are just 2-3 in their last five games and both Dallas and Chicago breathing down their back for the second wild-card spot.

The Lions have a better team on paper, but they simply haven’t look good lately. I think Oakland stays alive with a win at home on Sunday.

Tennessee Titans

The Titans, like the Raiders, are 7-6 and still technically alive in the AFC wild-card race. Still though, they remain a game behind the New York Jets and probably need to win out to have any chance at the playoffs.

Luckily for Tennessee, a date with the Indianapolis Colts is just what the doctor ordered. The Colts, as it turns out, don’t have a chance at the playoffs and shouldn’t offer any resistance to Tennessee.

The Titans will roll in this must-win road game.

Seattle Seahawks

The ‘Hawks stand at 6-7 and as a result still need a lot of help to win that second wild-card spot. But Seattle can’t worry about that. They absolutely need to win out.

A 2-4 road record isn’t promising, but the Chicago Bears currently have an offense that even the Seahawks can make fun of.

This one should turn into a defensive battle, but Seattle will have the best offensive player on the field with Marshawn Lynch, and he should help the Seahawks grind out a win.
