Week 15 Fantasy Football Rankings: Tim Tebow and QBs Poised for a Huge Week

Nicholas GossDec 17, 2011

Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow is one of several quarterbacks poised to have a huge week for your fantasy football team during a crucial playoff week in many fantasy football leagues.

Don't be afraid to start Tebow this week, even if you are in a league that starts just one quarterback. You must also not rely on past successes when choosing who to start this week.

Look at the Week 15 matchups and determine who can be the most productive for your team. Just because a player dominated in the playoffs for you last year, doesn't mean he will again.

Let's look at three quarterbacks who are ready to explode for huge numbers this week and carry your fantasy football team.

1. Tony Romo

The Dallas Cowboys have to win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Saturday night to keep their playoff hopes alive, and they have the perfect opponent to do so against.

The Bucs give up just under 250 passing yards per game this season, and allow a staggering 28.5 points per game.

With wide receivers Miles Austin, Dez Bryant and Laurent Robinson expected to play despite injuries, quarterback Tony Romo will have his full arsenal of weapons at his disposal on offense.

Over the past two weeks, Romo has thrown for 620 yards with five touchdowns and no interceptions. With a very favorable matchup and facing a must-win, Romo is guaranteed to shine Saturday for your fantasy team.

With rookie running back DeMarco Murray injured and out for the season, it's also very likely that Romo will pass more often than normal this week.

The Detroit Lions need to win against the Oakland Raiders Sunday to maintain a wild-card playoff spot, and quarterback Matthew Stafford has a favorable matchup in his first career meeting against the silver and black.

The Raiders have allowed 23 passing touchdowns this season, which ranks tied for third most in the NFL. They also allow 234 passing yards per game, which ranks in the bottom half of the league.

Stafford has thrown for 635 yards over the last two games with three touchdowns and one interception, and with the lack of a consistent running game, expect Stafford to throw a lot against a Raiders defense that allows the fourth-most fantasy points to QBs.

3. Tim Tebow

The Denver Broncos face the worst passing defense in football on Sunday in the New England Patriots, which is fabulous news for quarterback Tim Tebow.

Tebow has been very good at not turning the ball over this season, throwing 11 touchdowns with just two interceptions.

Tebow has not been a prolific passer this season, but the Patriots have made quarterbacks much worse than Tebow look like all-pros this year because their defense is so poor against the pass.

The Patriots pass rush is also pretty weak, and inconsistent too. Tebow will have time to throw the ball in the pocket and carve up a bad defense.

Consider the Broncos quarterback a top fantasy option this week, despite the hype built up by the media leading up to this game.
