WWE TLC 2011 Predictions: Previewing Every Match Sunday Night
WWE TLC weekend is finally here! There are quite a few big matches set up for Sunday night, and I am looking forward to the event. Yes, some matches are predictable, but that is not always a bad thing.
I will be watching the PPV show with a watchful eye because I have tickets for the Elimination Chamber PPV in February in beautiful Milwaukee, Wisconsin. With each passing show, it will become more and more clear which matches I will be seeing live in two months!
United States Championship Match
1 of 6Dolph Ziggler is the current United States champion. Zack Ryder is the man looking to hold his first singles title in his WWE career.
I really see no reason for Dolph to remain champion in the middle of the card. He should be slowly moving up the ranks. Zack needs to win this match, or I really have no idea what he does next. This is about as "do-or-die" as you can get in this business.
Ryder has got some fans on his side. He has become much more serious in the past few weeks, and he can go in the ring. Give him the "feel-good" win of the show!
Winner: Zack Ryder gets his big moment
Randy Orton vs. Wade Barrett
2 of 6This will be a Tables match.
I really have enjoyed these two going at each other for the past month or so. They feuded last year, but this time around has been even more entertaining.
Wade Barrett (and Cody Rhodes) bested Randy Orton last month at Survivor Series, so who comes out on top this month? Honestly, I can't decide. It could go either way. Wade is on a nice roll, while Orton has had an amazing 2011. Too close to call!
Let me flip a coin. Heads for Orton. Tails for Barrett. I pick...
Winner: Randy Orton
Triple H vs. Kevin Nash
3 of 6This will be a ladder match with a sledgehammer hanging above the ring. Yes, it is a very strange match for these two.
Do I mind? Not really. Triple H has made a living out of proving his critics wrong, and Nash can be great in small doses. Anybody expecting a "five-star classic" or big moves off the top of the ladder is watching the wrong program.
This business has never been about that, and it never will be. If these guys can tell a good story, the match will be just fine. As for a winner? I really can't see Triple H losing after his powerful promo on Monday night. On the flip side, this may be the last we see of Nash for awhile...
Winner: Triple H
Cody Rhodes vs. Booker T
4 of 6The Intercontinental Championship will be on the line here.
I really have enjoyed these two going back and forth on the Blue Brand the past few weeks. It is a little early for their first match against each other, but I see this feud continuing.
This will be Booker's second match back since the Royal Rumble 2011 (against Jack Swagger on Raw), and I believe he is ready to go. Cody, on the other hand, has been improving every week. The main event is in his future, but there is no need to rush him there.
Here is my prediction. This match ends in a double count-out, disqualification or just a total brawl. I can't see a clean winner here. If WWE really wanted to have this feud extend, why not put Booker in a "best of" series? Best of five? Two out of three falls? Something along those lines?
I really liked Booker T and John Cena's rivalry in 2004. They had a great US title feud that included a "best of five" series. These two could go the same route heading into 2012. It makes the IC belt mean something, and it keeps the two men busy until WrestleMania 28. Therefore, I pick Cody to keep his belt one way or another Sunday night somehow.
Winner: Cody Rhodes leaves with the title
Triple Threat TLC Match
5 of 6CM Punk will be defending his WWE title against Alberto Del Rio and The Miz in a triple-threat TLC match. Surely, most expect the champ to retain.
Del Rio is all but done in the main event scene, while The Miz has to be on the watch for R-Truth returning soon. That leaves Punk as the lone man staying in the WWE title picture.
I am going to go with the obvious outcome. Punk must retain here. I see him having a nice title reign, perhaps going many more months. What is next for CM Punk? I think we will all find out on January 2nd, 2012.
Winner: CM Punk picks up the victory
Chairs Match
6 of 6Mark Henry will be defending his World Heavyweight Championship against Big Show in a chairs match. This is the true main event of the evening!
The feud between Henry and Show is exactly how you build up a feud. Mark used a steel chair on him over the summer. Show came back months later for revenge. He specifically used a steel chair to let out some of his anger.
After some back-and-forth battles, the stage was set for the finale. In what type of setting? Yes, a chairs match! How fitting. It is that simple for a story to make sense in the end.
It is quite convenient how full the Mark Henry bandwagon has gotten over the past few weeks. Funny how things work out sometimes, huh? I gave everybody the option to hop on board months ago, yet nobody listened. Oh well!
Winner: Mark Henry is NEVER, ever losing the World title!
