NFL Week 15 Picks: Dallas Cowboys and Teams Heading into Trap Games

Josh MartinDec 17, 2011

The NFL Trap Game Alert is up to Admiral Ackbar for Week 15 of the 2011 season. You know the story—playoff-contending team, on the road, against a far inferior opponent.

These three situations fit the mold all too perfectly...

The Cowboys have made a habit out of falling into traps in recent seasons, with an overtime loss at Arizona in Week 13 serving as just the latest example.

Now, Tony Romo and company will take their traveling gridiron rodeo to Tampa Bay, where the Bucs have dropped each of its last seven games, most notably a 41-14 flop in Jacksonville just last week.

But if any team is going to let upon the Bucs, it's the 'Boys, who seem to be on the verge of spiraling out of control after playing four agonizingly close games in succession.

Green Bay Packers

It's David vs. Goliath. Undefeated vs. Easily Defeated. Packers vs. Chiefs.

The defending Super Bowl champs, still undefeated at 13-0, will arrive in Kansas City looking to clinch home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs.

The Chiefs, on the other hand, have dropped five of their last six games, just fired head coach Todd Haley and will start Kyle Orton (aka Captain Neckbeard) on Sunday.

Which, obviously, means Green Bay is in for a tough game, right? Well, they just might, especially if Aaron Rodgers and his buddies start looking ahead to their rivalry game against the Bears in Week 16.

Tennessee Titans

The Titans came within five points of upending the Saints, and within one point of notching their fourth consecutive game with a 23-17 final score, even after bringing rookie Jake Locker in for Matt Hasselbeck.

That disappointment could prove to be Tennessee's downfall against the winless Colts in Indy on Sunday. I know the Colts are terrible, but they've got to win a game one of these days, right?

Maybe that day will come against the Jags in Week 17 but, for now, the Titans would be wise to tread lightly, lest they wind up an embarrassing footnote in the football history books.
