Chattanooga vs. Kentucky: TV Schedule, Live Stream, Spread Info and More

Josh MartinDec 16, 2011

No. 3 Kentucky will look to get back on the winning track when Chattanooga comes to Rupp Arena in Lexington on Saturday. The Wildcats were shocked by an up-and-coming Indiana squad in Bloomington last Saturday, 73-72, just a week after edging North Carolina by the very same score.

The Mocs, on the other hand, have dropped seven of their first 10 games to the likes of Gardner-Webb, Georgia Southern, College of Charleston and Mercer.

What's at Stake:

Kentucky has little, if anything, to gain from this game. The Wildcats are expected to beat up on the Mocs with their tremendous stockpile of NBA-caliber talent. Anything less will raise questions about UK's fitness to win the NCAA Tournament, especially with so many young, inexperienced players on the roster.

For Chattanooga, realistically, the only thing at stake here is the fat check the team will be taking back to Tennessee for offering itself up for such a whoopin'.

What They're Saying:

Not surprisingly, the 'Cats are chomping at the bit to get back on the court after last weekend's shocking loss to IU. Freshman phenom Anthony Davis made that much clear in speaking with the Associated Press:

"

“Any time you lose you just want to go out there and play again just to get that win. Unfortunately we don’t play again until (Saturday) and we had the whole week off, so we had lots of practice, we practiced every day, went hard.

“The way we lost really hurt. We’re upset that we lost that way and the fact that we lost. A lot of guys have been, before practice and after practice, putting in extra work.”

"

Chattanooga Player to Watch: Keegan Bell

UK will have its eyes fixed firmly on Keegan Bell on Saturday. The senior point guard and one-time Vanderbilt Commodore has been a terrific all-around contributor for the Mocs this season, leading the team in assists while ranking fourth on the squad in scoring and rebounding. Chattanooga will need Bell to control the ball against John Calipari's pressuring defense if it's to have any chance of pulling off this monumental upset.

Kentucky Player to Watch: Anthony Davis

The difference between good and great for Kentucky lies in the hands (not to mention the unibrow) of Anthony Davis. The freshman phenom leads the Wildcats in rebounding and is fourth in the nation in block shots but has been something of a disappointment on offense, with just 11.6 points and 6.9 field goal attempts per game.

Davis struggled to stay on the floor against Indiana, racking up four fouls along the way and garnered only four shots as a result. UK needs its NBA-bound big man to stay on the floor to ensure the on-court dominance that Big Blue fans expect.

Key Matchup: The Wildcats vs. Themselves

Let's be real here: Kentucky should win this one going away. Heck, the Wildcats could win this one on talent alone, with enough future pros to challenge a low-level team like the Pistons or the Cavaliers to a competitive scrimmage.

For Big Blue, the danger lies in the bevy of freshmen and sophomores on which it relies from game to game. So long as the underclassmen don't play like underclassmen (i.e. turn the ball over every other possession, fall into long lapses of poor play on defense, miss easy shots), the 'Cats should do away with the Mocs rather handily.

Prediction: Kentucky 82, Chattanooga 59

The Wildcats are eager to cleanse the stench left behind by the loss to Indiana. An easy game against Chattanooga should provide Kentucky with the perfect opportunity to bounce back onto its feet from last weekend's disappointing result.
