WWE TLC 2011: 5 Best Table Matches in WWE History

T.J. McaloonDec 16, 2011

The Tables Match is one of the most dramatic matches that the WWE can put on. It's one of those matches that if a spot goes wrong, or if they want to end the match quickly, they can work it in with one of the wrestlers getting thrown through a table.

There have been a number of tables matches in the history of the WWE. I'm sure that your list will differ from my list. However, this is just the tip of some of the greatest tables matches that the WWE has put on.

All of these matches have been brutal, filled with drama and have left you with a lot to talk about after the match.

No. 5 Randy Orton vs. John Cena

1 of 5

Let's break down this match to see why it's one of the best tables matches. It has a ton of run-ins that give this match constant action. You have two of the greatest WWE superstars in this generation, in Cena and Orton.

You have "Super Cena" losing. Finally, you have a sick finisher, with Orton reversing an "AA" into an "RKO."

No. 4 CM Punk Tommy Dreamer Sandman vs. Elijah Burke Matt Striker Marcus Cor Von

2 of 5

Was this during WWE's run with ECW? Yes, it was, however, ECW was owned by WWE, so it's technically a WWE product.

However, this match has a number of crazy stunts, great superstars and a finish that sees not only one but two people go through a table.

Plus, it's always fun to see young clean-shaven WWE Punk before he became a mega-superstar and developed his edge. And it's nice to see two ECW originals, and two TNA products in The Pope and The Alpha Male Monty Brown all participate in a match.

Then there's Matt Striker, who is kind of there.

No. 3 Jeff Hardy Bubba Ray Dudley Spike Dudley vs. 3 Minute Warning and Rico

3 of 5

Fair warning, this is the first of two Dudley and Hardy tables match that will make this list.

However, this one comes in at No. 3 since it has the odd teaming of Hardy with the Dudleys going against the former thugs employed by Eric Bischoff, Three Minute Warning, along with Rico.

This is one of those wild and crazy brawls that was an elimination tables match. Once you were put through a table, you were out of the match. The team that survived, would pick up the victory.

The match had it all: crazy spots, near finishes, six men who were busting their butts and multiple people going through multiple tables.

No. 2 John Cena vs. Sheamus

4 of 5

Do I hate John Cena? No. However, it just so happens that two of the best tables matches involve him losing in the end.

This match gets such a high placement on this list because no one expected Sheamus to pull off the upset. He came into this match a heavy underdog to dethrone Cena in Sheamus' first-ever WWE Title match.

However, when he pushes Cena off of the top rope to finish the match, it sends the crowd at Tables Ladders and Chairs into a stunned silence.

No. 1 The Dudley Boyz vs. The Hardy Boyz

5 of 5

When the Dudleys and Hardys were put into gimmick matches that involved tables, ladders and chairs, magic happened.

It's why their Tables match at the 2000 Royal Rumble ranks as the best tables match in the history of the WWE.

This match had everything that you would want in a Tables Match. You had both teams going at a fast-paced speed from the opening bell to the finish of the match.

There were a number of close finishes with each team pulling the table away before their teammate could go crashing through it. And finally you had complete carnage with each team putting their bodies on the line with insane spot after insane spot.

This match had it all and is the best tables match of all time.
