LSU Football: The Tigers Biggest Remaining Recruiting Needs
LSU already has 21 commitments, with nine being 4-star players. I'm going to give you an update on some of the No.1 team in the land's biggest remaining recruiting targets.
The Tigers are looking to capitalize on their momentum by hauling in a great recruiting class. Oh, right, there's also that little game vs. Alabama coming up for some crystal ball. That's important too.
Let's see who could be joining the Mad Hatter in Baton Rouge.
5. Channing Ward, DE
1 of 5Talk about a player who doesn't like interviews, the recruiting process, talking about where he's going or anything relative to that: Channing Ward fits that mold perfectly.
He's playing everything close to the vest but it's no secret that the 6'4", 240-pound DE is a wanted man by a ton of schools. Ole Miss and Mississippi State are playing the "stay in-state" cards, and Alabama is trying to sell the "be a versatile star in our defense" card.
Yet, Auburn is the only school he's officially tripped to. And LSU is a school he has liked for quite sometime. Stay tuned.
4. Tracy Howard, CB
2 of 5Elite CB prospect Tracy Howard is a firm apple of LSU's eye and has interest in the Tigers. Yet, even though he says otherwise, many think it may be tough to pry him out of Florida.
For awhile in the summer, it was thought Howard was down to Miami and Florida, but he opened things up to cast a wider net. Now, according to Scout.com, Florida State might be the team to beat.
Billy Gonzales is recruiting Howard hard, and Howard says he will take a trip to Baton Rouge before he makes a choice.
3. Mario Edwards, DE
3 of 5Mario Edwards says he is committed to Florida State, but Edwards also says Oklahoma and LSU are standing out to him.
LSU has been a school he has liked for awhile, and Edwards will likely take a trip to Baton Rouge before he signs with a school.
I also have a hunch Texas could get back in the race, so FSU, OU, LSU and Texas all could land the 6'4", 280-pound man-child of a DE.
2. Kwon Alexander, OLB
4 of 5Five-star OLB Kwon Alexander is one of the top defensive players in the country.
His top five consists of Alabama, LSU, Auburn, FSU and Oregon but the Ducks don't have room for him to come visit, which is a negative.
LSU already hosted Alexander for an official visit October 21 and he's also visited Florida State. Alexander is fresh off a trip The Plains to see Auburn and had a great time.
LSU is going to have stay on him to stay fresh in his mind and get his signed LOI.
1. Landon Collins, DB/LB
5 of 5Five-star DB/OLB Landon Collins has opted to stay plenty busy now that his season is over. He's training for the postseason All-Star game circuit and also honing in his recruitment.
Collins still has LSU and Alabama as his top two, but he will take a trip to Texas, and Tennessee was at his home recently as well.
Collins is set to trip to Baton Rouge this weekend, where he could basically walk to campus because it's that close to his home.
