LSU Football: Tigers' Top 5 Uncommitted Targets

Randy ChambersDec 16, 2011

With the regular season coming to a close and only bowl games left to play, these next few months will be focused on recruiting. Where will some of the top players in the country end up, and which teams will fill their needs with future stars?

The LSU Tigers already have one of the most talented teams in the country and one of the top recruiting classes this year. But you can always do better and want better for your program.

With a ton of talented players already committed, here are the top five players that are also considering becoming a Tiger.

DT Eddie Goldman

1 of 5

A lot of the Tigers' defensive success this season can be attributed to a fantastic defensive line. If the Tigers are able to land defensive tackle Eddie Goldman, it will remain that way for at least a few more years.

He may be 6'4" and 315 pounds, but you wouldn't know that if you watched him on film. He is very quick and can hold his own against double-teams. I guess when you face them as much as he does, you kind of get use to it.

The Tigers have competition with Miami, Alabama, Auburn and Florida State, among other schools.

S Landon Collins

2 of 5

The Tigers only have one safety committed so far, and they could really use another.

Collins is a versatile safety that also has the ability to play running back or linebacker. He's very athletic and a playmaker, with the ability to become somewhat of a Tyrann Mathieu-type player.

Right now, it's really a two team race between LSU and Alabama, and he's expected to make his decision at the Under Armour All-America game on January 5.

Whichever team he picks, you can bet he'll be wearing their colors at this year's national championship.

DE Noah Spence

3 of 5

Defensive end Noah Spence has an offer from nearly every major program, but if he commits to LSU, they'd instantly become a better team. At 6'3", 240 pounds, he is extremely fast, has an excellent motor and is a fantastic athlete.

He finished his junior year with over 100 tackles, 22 sacks and nine forced fumbles.

The Ohio State Buckeyes and Urban Meyer are really pushing hard for Spence, and he will visit them this weekend.

WR Dorial Green-Beckham

4 of 5

The Tigers already have three commitments from wide receivers, but none of them are as talented or explosive as Dorial Green-Beckham.

The 5-star wideout is is the ultimate deep threat and is extremely dangerous racking up yards after the catch. What makes Green-Beckham so valuable is his size at a ridiculous 6'6", 220 pounds.

Whichever school lands this playmaker will have hit the jackpot.

LSU is hoping it's them.

QB Gunner Kiel

5 of 5

The Tigers haven't landed a quarterback in this year's class yet, but they are still in the running for Gunner Kiel. The 5-star recruit may lack great arm strength, but he has everything else you look for, including the size at 6'4", 200 pounds.

He has solid accuracy and can make plays with his feet when he has to.

He's already had a visit with LSU, but he is also interested in schools like Notre Dame, USC and Vanderbilt, among others.
