NBA Rumors: Latest Players to Go Down to Injury
With the training camp underway, injuries are beginning to crop up around the league. With players and teams rushing back to get in shape and get ready for the season in the abbreviated preseason, howerver, that's not surprising.
Here are the injuries to the major players, and how severe they are.
Vince Carter
1 of 5Vince Carter, according to ESPN Dallas, has been having some issues with knee tendonitis:
"Vince Carter has yet to do any contact drills with the Dallas Mavericks because of knee tendinitis, coach Rick Carlisle said.
"
It is not a major health concern for the 34-year-old swingman, an eight-time All-Star who recently signed for the mini-midlevel exception. The Mavericks hope Carter can participate in the team’s second practice Thursday.
“It’s a process, and we don’t have a whole lot of time,” Carlisle said. “We’ve got to make every second count.”
While right now this isn't much to be concerned about, it speaks to the type of problem that can come up repeatedly throughout the year. It's worth keeping an eye on.
David West
2 of 5David West is the prize of the offseason for the Pacers, but he won't be in tonight's game, according to IndyStar.com.
It's nothing to worry about. The Pacers are just taking their time bringing back West, who underwent knee surgery last year that took him out for the last part of the season.
While this is nothing to be concerned about, it does serve as a reminder for Pacer fans to temper their expectations at the start of the season. The Pacers are going to be careful about their big man.
Paul Pierce
3 of 5Paul Pierce will not be playing in the preseson opener against the Toronto Raptors according to Sherrod Blakely of CSNNE.
Pierce has a heel injury, though the extent and nature of it are unknown.
It's also worth noting that both Jeff Green and Rajon Rondo are experiencing problems as well.
Green has some sort of mysterious issue that the Celtics won't talk about. Rondo has an ankle injury.
LaMarcus Aldridge
4 of 5LaMarcus Aldridge has undergone his heart treatment and has been cleared to practice, according to none other than Aldridge himself. According to his tweet here, "Everything went good. Start practicing Saturday!"
That has to be good news if you're a Portland fan.
Marc Gasol
5 of 5Marc Gasol has injured his ankle, according to the ESPN injury report. All it states is, "Gasol did not practice Thursday due to an ankle injury, the Memphis Commercial Appeal reports."
That there is nothing else available indicates it's nothing to be concerned about; however, it wouldn't be a surprise to see him miss the game tonight.
