Chicago Bulls Rumors: Richard Hamilton Considered Knicks and Celtics
Richard Hamilton finally gets a new start after signing a three-year, $15 million contract with the Chicago Bulls.
Hamilton made his decision quickly after being bought out by the Detroit Pistons earlier in the week. For Hamilton, it was an easy decision, as he only considered playing for the Bulls, New York Knicks and Boston Celtics.
As his career comes to an end, Hamilton wants to take one more shot at winning another championship. Clearly, he felt Chicago gave him the best shot to do exactly that.
The Bulls were already good without Hamilton, but signing him improves their biggest weakness coming into the season. That is, the shooting guard spot.
Compare the Knicks and the Celtics to what the Bulls have to offer and you can see why Hamilton chose Chicago.
For one, he was able to get a three-year deal from Chicago at a decent number. That's something the Knicks couldn't offer.
However, that's not the main reason. The main reason is Derrick Rose.
While a team like the Celtics are aging fast, Hamilton gets to play alongside the reigning MVP, who's not even close to entering his prime.
For Hamilton's possible three-year run in Chicago, the Bulls core is young and improving. With Hamilton, they have a veteran who has won before and that's important for a young team.
Looking at all the options that Hamilton had in front of him, you can see easily why he chose to sign with the Bulls.
