WWE TLC 2011: 5 Reasons Why Alberto Del Rio Shouldn't Trust Miz
This Sunday at WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders, and Chairs, the Miz and Alberto del Rio will challenge for CM Punk’s WWE Championship.
Alberto del Rio looks to take another shot at regaining the championship he lost to Punk a month ago at Survivor Series.
The Miz, on the other hand, is just now returning to the title chase. Miz, who hasn't had a shot at the title since the summer, is also looking to dethrone Punk.
In the past two weeks, Alberto del Rio and Miz have joined forces to try to weaken the WWE Champion. From what we’ve seen on Raw in the past few weeks, one would assume that del Rio and Miz will double-team CM Punk throughout the match.
If they work as well as they did on this past episode of Raw, CM Punk's title reign may be in danger.
However, their alliance must eventually dissolve. Based on past occurrences, I figure that Miz would be the one to turn on del Rio. If and when that does happen, del Rio may very well lose this shot at the WWE title.
The following list contains five reasons why Alberto del Rio never should have trusted Miz going into this title match.
Miz Is More Experienced in Ladder Matches
1 of 6The Miz is much more versed in the various gimmick matches used in the WWE. He has had his fair share of both ladder and tables matches.
At last year’s TLC pay-per-view, Miz was able to defeat Randy Orton in a tables match. In addition, he also has a lot of experience in ladder matches in the form of Money in the Bank matches.
Of course, Alberto del Rio does have experience in ladder matches, having competed in ladder matches at last year’s TLC and Extreme Rules.
Based on his attacks on Rey Mysterio last year, it’s apparent that del Rio can effectively use a chair as a weapon, too.
All in all, Alberto del Rio should be wary of Miz’s proficiency in ladder matches.
Miz Has a History of Being Manipulative
2 of 6Miz has a long history of using people to get what he wants.
The perfect example would be his partnership with Alex Riley last year. During Miz’s WWE title reign, Riley was responsible for Miz retaining his championship on multiple occasions.
Take, for example, Miz’s tables match at last year’s TLC.
In the end, it was Alex Riley that knocked Randy Orton off the apron and through the table. Within a few months, Miz ditched Riley when he no longer found the partnership beneficial.
I’m sure that Miz will turn on del Rio as his first convenience.
Miz Shows No Remorse for Attacking Allies and Partners
3 of 6Another prime example of why Miz shouldn’t be freely trusted is that he turns on partners without any remorse.
When John Morrison and The Miz were separated by the WWE draft, Miz took the opportunity to turn on Morrison and end their partnership, just so he could make an impact on his first night on Raw.
Recently, we also saw Miz turn on R-Truth. He effectively ended their partnership following a Skull Crushing Finale on the stage.
As I stated on the last slide, Miz has no problem turning on his partners if it means he can benefit. Based on his past, it should also be known that Miz likely wouldn’t show any remorse for severing any partnership with del Rio.
Thus, his turning on del Rio wouldn’t affect his performance in the match.
Miz's Recent Attacks on WWE Superstars
4 of 6Over the past few weeks, Miz has been taking out various WWE wrestlers.
Why? Because he can.
Alberto del Rio, as well as everyone else in the WWE, should watch his back. Miz has been on a roll and del Rio seems to be a valid candidate for the next person to be taken out.
Del Rio should watch out especially because of how close he’s gotten to Miz in their efforts to weaken CM Punk going into TLC.
Miz's Passion
5 of 6More than anything, Miz will do absolutely anything to win, especially when the WWE Championship is involved.
The last ladder match Miz participated in was the Raw Money in the Bank ladder match. During the match, Miz tweaked his knee when he dropped after holding on to the briefcase. Even though he left the match, Miz eventually returned and made a last attempt to capture the briefcase.
Yes, Miz is well known for using underhanded tactics to get what he wants. However, you’ve got to remember the passion, heart and drive that Miz shows when it comes to recapturing the WWE Championship.
All things considered, that could be what makes Miz most dangerous.
Conclusion
6 of 6In some ways, del Rio is smart for aligning himself with Miz. The duo will definitely make it tough for CM Punk to retain his championship on Sunday.
If the past is any indication, Miz will simply turn on del Rio once the two of them take out Punk. I’m not saying it’s a sure thing that Miz will cost del Rio the shot at the WWE title, but it’s probable based on Miz’s history.
Perhaps del Rio is wiser than I give him credit for and will be able to avoid Miz ruining his chance at the world title. We won’t know for sure until the main event on Sunday!
