TLC 2011: Making a Case for Why Each WWE Match Could Steal the Show
Table, Ladders and Chairs 2011 has an intriguing card; a Triple Threat TLC WWE Championship, two giants armed with chairs and a commentator coming out of retirement.
What match will end up being the one we all talk about afterward?
The TLC pay-per-view, as usual, offers matches with plenty of weapons and chances for one-upmanship.
Every wrestler steps down the aisle hoping to impress the crowd, to mark their place in history. Who'll be the show stealers of TLC 2011?
Mark Henry vs. Big Show (Chairs Match) World Heavyweight Championship
1 of 6These two behemoths have the advantage of familiarity having battled in the last two pay-per-views. Those matches haven't been all-time classics or anything, but they've been intriguing.
Their build up from a story perspective has picked up lately as well.
Henry's injured leg adds drama especially considering the history of chair violence between the two.
Few times does it make sense to add the chair match stipulation, but it most certainly does here. Fans will be wondering if they'll see another broken ankle or something even more vicious.
Chances of stealing the show: Not bad
Triple H vs. Kevin Nash (Sledgehammer Ladder Match)
2 of 6I'll try my best here, but most fans don't have high hopes for this one.
Triple H is rested and should be fresh come match time. With all the talk of how terrible Nash will be in the ring, he has something to prove and will do his best to bring his A game.
Triple H has an impressive ladder match resume and will be sure to make full use of that element.
As to how the sledgehammer will fit in, perhaps the WWE is planning a few delectable spots with it. While it could certainly be a dud, maybe we’ll all be shocked by some spectacular sledgehammer moment and a Kevin Nash revival.
Chances of stealing the show: Very slim
Dolph Ziggler vs. Zack Ryder United States Championship
3 of 6Fans have been anticipating this match for a while. The crowd should be pumped, behind Ryder but in full appreciation of the awesome talent of Ziggler.
Ziggler has done a lot of show stealing as of late with his uncanny ability to sell moves, build drama and the fact that he works so hard.
Both men are quick and work well together. They have exciting finishers ripe for counters and a history in and out of the ring.
Ryder will be riding in on a wave of hype and will be looking to prove everybody right.
Chances of stealing the show: Very Good
Randy Orton vs. Wade Barrett (Tables Match)
4 of 6The Wastleland and the RKO are both perfect finishing moves for a tables match. We'll likely see a ton of close calls.
Though their rivalry isn't exactly red-hot yet, their combined talent could certainly produce a memorable match.
Orton has gone from underrated to overrated and back again. His gimmick may be growing tiresome, but he nearly always makes the most of his opportunities to shine.
Barrett is a megastar in waiting and could have his coming out party here.
Chances of stealing the show: Decent
Cody Rhodes vs. Booker T Intercontinental Championship
5 of 6Fans will be thrilled to see Booker T back in action as much as they'll love hating on Rhodes.
Rhodes is fast becoming one of the best wrestlers on the roster and will probably up his game to compete with someone with the resume of Booker.
The match doesn't have a gimmick to hold them back or assist them.
They'll just be going on an excess of talent and an unexpected chemistry that may produce some fireworks.
Chances of stealing the show: Pretty Good
CM Punk vs. Alberto Del Rio vs. the Miz TLC Match for WWE Championship
6 of 6If nothing else, these three gentlemen have the advantage of the prestige and hype that a main event provides.
Being both a Triple Threat and a TLC match opens the door for a myriad of stunning spots to happen.
CM Punk is extremely hot right now so he'll have a boisterous crowd behind him. His rivalry with Del Rio is getting better and adding Miz adds talent and drama.
The possibility of John Cena getting involved somehow could elevate this match if done right.
Chances of stealing the show: Good
