Tim Tebow: High Schoolers Use Tebowing to Get Vacation and Mass Publicity

Tim Tebow can directly be blamed for four high schoolers getting suspended.

No, he didn’t get them drunk before class or tell them to skip their homework…in fact he didn’t do anything at all.

Four kids from Riverhead High school in New York have been suspended for “Tebowing” in the hallway of their school. Apparently this is some sort of threat to kids’ safety. Check out the hilarious reasoning for the suspensions courtesy of Superintendent Nancy Carney:

It’s wonderful that our students look up to sports heroes such as Mr. Tebow, but we can’t allow students to create unsafe situations in school. Students cannot block hallways and prevent other students from getting to class. A couple of students who were spoken to previously did not heed to the warning given by administrators, and they were disciplined accordingly.

The hardcore discipline in school these days is getting out of hand. These kids are obviously just partaking in a craze that has rocked America. High School may sound like a long time ago, and sure times have changed, but I remember casually walking around anybody that had dropped their books or were trying  to tie their shoes. My safety was never in question.  

If Riverhead suspends kids for clogging up the hallway, is dropping your books and picking them up a detention?

The kids are taking this all in stride. One of the kids to get suspended, Tyler Carroll, describes the foursome’s thought process:

We’ve been doing it all week. We started on Monday. We saw Tebow doing it and thought it would be funny. More people saw and started to join in. It was really catching fire.

And that fire was put out by the no-fun police.

Yet in the end it sounds like the kids were the ones that got the last laugh. They got to skip a full day of school, earned some serious street cred with their classmates and are now a nationally known entity:
