WWE TLC 2011: Putting US Title on Zack Ryder Would Be Wrong Move

T.J. McaloonDec 15, 2011

Zack Ryder is one of the most popular wrestlers in the WWE right now.

There are a lot of people who want to see Ryder take down Dolph Ziggler at the Tables, Ladders and Chairs pay-per-view and win the United States Title.

However, the smart move for the WWE is to keep the title on Ziggler, not Ryder.

Yes, I can sense that as you are reading this you're yelling at your computer screen, “Are you serious, bro?!”

Yes, I am serious. The main reason is: Where will Ryder go after he wins the title?

More than likely, Ryder would move onto a feud against someone like Jack Swagger, or a returning Brodus Clay.  Only the Swagger feud looks good on paper; because he can bring a great match out of Ryder.

A feud with Clay would just have Ryder gaining wins over a bigger wrestler, proving that he could hang with a different weight class.

Having Ryder win his first major title at TLC would rob him of getting put over as a main guy in the WWE.

Instead, the WWE should keep the title with Ziggler and let the two feud until WrestleMania XXVIII.

WrestleMania has always been built as not only the biggest PPV of the year for the WWE, and where their season comes to an end.  Usually, a lot of storylines either come to an end, or reach a point where there is nowhere else to go.

At this year’s WrestleMania, it should be the conclusion of a seven-month journey for Ryder, and where both men could see their careers take off into that next level in the WWE.

If the WWE would go this route it would help in building up a dramatic chase for Ryder, while giving these two young talented superstars a well invested program heading into the biggest PPV of the year.

Ryder can have a nice run as the top of the second-tier superstars with the US Title, while Ziggler can transform himself into the next great heel champion.

Having these two blow off their feud at TLC, or even the Royal Rumble, would result in both of these men staying in their same positions on the Raw card.

The WWE has two bright stars in Ziggler and Ryder.  If the WWE plays its cards right, and wait to pull the trigger on Ryder’s US Title win, then they can launch not just one, but two careers to help carry the WWE for the next five to 10 years.
